      I can't buy anything from EA anymore. I said I wouldn't.

Well, with Dice being locked into EA, I'm sure not going to be thinking their next game won't have the same issues as this one....

Paying almost twice the amount of money for a ranked server than for a non-ranked server just so that players can get unlocks/ranks. Releasing expansion packs who's weapons can be played in default servers (argue all you want, but having more weapons in your arsenal *IS* an advantage over the guy who can't afford the expansion/booster pack). With these ranked server advantages, the un-ranked servers are forced to be ghost towns because people are now addicted to stats that give players with unlimited time/use exploits/hacks the top ranking positions (rank not based on skill/performance). Removing the ability for any server side mods (which is what kept BF1942/Desert Combat so popular) to keep the integrity of the horribly flawed ranking system.

In short, EA is *NOT* mod community friendly, and do their best to make it difficult for players to mod the game for fear of loosing royalties on leased ranked server. EA is alot about the $, and not about fun; thus forcing Dice into same catagory (they do own the majority stake in Dice). Here's to hoping that Dice finds a new publisher.

it will run 10x better while having superior graphics, it won't have dull gameplay to satisfy the noobie masses....
And this is based off what assumption? :)
I can't run Doom3/quake 4 anywhere near as nice as I can run BF2. Doom3 engine is just as notoriously bad when it comes to system specs, if not worse.
Also you reckon it's going to look better even though it's using the identical engine as Doom3, which happens to be an older engine even than the BF2 one.

And lastly it's not the game that produces the n00bs... it's the community.
"Noob" and "lamers" will be just as; if not more; abundant in QW.

Oh, and as far as I was aware Carmack isn't actually working on QW.

Carmack is not writing QW, he is currently writing his next gen engine. QW modification of the engine was being done in-house at QW developer.

Quake 4 and Doom 3 were both relatively bug free upon release, especially compared to the mess that is Battlefield 2. By "noobs" I mean all the whiners in the BF2 community that couldn't handle people jumping and shooting or diving and shooting so they pressured DICE into changing the dynamics of the game. The same people also insisted on god-like AA to take down planes because they lacked the skill to get in the air and do it themselves. Fortunately Splash Damage/id don't cater to vocal whiners like that and the Quake/ET series have always been based on fast paced skill.

As for the QW engine, the megatexture technology was written into the modified Doom 3 engine by Carmack. This engine received a substantial overhaul compared to the standard Doom 3 engine so expect to be surprised. Like I said, the graphics will easily surpass BF2 and the game will still run smoother with the focus being on fast paced action that requires skill and doesn't cater to noobs.

I'd probably buy it, but I wouldn't think of it as part of the true Battlefield series.

It's not that they couldnt handle it... just not seen all to many soldiers ever fire their gun whilst horizontaly floating in the air is all.
You see I don't mind having full sniper accuracy whilst bouncing around in something like UT, but that's not really based in RL at all. Sci-fi vs. Realism.

                  Also not accurate.
There are at most 2 airplanes in a map. If theres none to take, theres little I can do to go up in the air now, is there. + You then need to spend half the game constesting a vehicle.
The fact is, that once you get into a plane, it's just damn easy to take out people with little to no resistance. Nothing to do with lack of skill.

I won't buy it. Even if they DID learn their lessons... I am never buying another EA product again. I am sick of the corporate BS. BF1942 was great, infact one of the best games I have ever played! It has since then, however, gone down hill * F A S T *

I'm just glad I get to decide where my buck goes.

Yeah, same way I feel. BF'42 was the best of the BF Series for sure.

Uh there's NOTHING realistic about this game in the first place. Soldiers can't take a clip of rounds and still walk around at full pace without bleeding to death. This isn't a sim game, it's an arcade shooter therefore diving + firing and jump + firing were perfectly valid. Facts are the people that whined about it sucked at the game and even after the changes they're still getting their asses handed to them.

In another words, you were too lazy to stand in queue for a plane so therefore pilots should have to suffer the wrath of no-skill AA on the ground? Nice logic.

honestly... do a lookup on battlefield2.com instead and you'll se that it's the same host, groth.se. DICE did register battlefield2142.com
