Futuristic games look really strange...and I absolutely hate those walking things..they look like a child's toy..but for some reason they are in almost every single futuristic game.

If it's one thing I'd like to see changed, it's the servers. I'd like to see something like World War 2 online, I think it'd really fit/

I'd like developers to release a game that works as advertised and not have to release a slew of patches to fix the code they slapped the "gold" label on and pumped out the door.

I hope they have learned something, because if they are sticking the BF franchise in the future just to 'keep up with the neighbors' (ET:QW) they have already lost.

You may now commence with the tarring and feathering.
No tarring and feathering needed ... the problem for you is that you hostile to the game by default without understanding how project development works (whether you're building a car, a game, or anything else).

By your logic, we were all beta testers for Windows XP when we were using Windows 98. Many of the features that XP brings could have easily been possible in Windows 98.

Anyone who has ever worked on large software development projects will understand that working on a concept that has never been visualized before is not as easy as the user thinks.

Sepp, as a user, you need to understand that nothing is perfect and flaws will always exist in software -- be it a game or an operating system. If you start demonizing the software developers I can garauntee that you will never be happy with any product that you ever purchase ... or maybe that is the way you like it?

Name a game that you think is the best developed and I will list plenty of bugs and discrepencies that you probably never knew existed.

BF2 isn't as bad as many of you make it to be ... you just love it so much that you want it to be perfect :)

WW2 Online was a nice game and had some strong support from the development team. However, I think it failed on many levels.

Operation Flashpoint, on the other hand, succeeded where WW2 Online failed. Although Operation Flashpoint had different gameplay mechanics, the maps are absolutely m-a-s-s-i-v-e (ie: miles and miles long -- could take about 2 hours plus to run from one end to the other). View distance was much much longer as well. Not to mention the game is a combat Simulator, unlike BF2.

The problem with Flashpoint is that the graphics are nowhere near what BF2 has. I think you can imagine why. Even the latest addition to the series has yet to get a final release date is weak on the graphics by today's standard. I don't care about graphics, OFP's graphics suited me just fine -- but many people do care.

If you want massive maps, BF2's graphics/ragdolls/effect, and hundreds of players on 1 map -- come back in 10 years :)

I hate that game companies follow trends. It does seem to see a dierct attack at QW. I wish I would rather have the choice of different games rather than two similar games which I then have to decide between as they are so close in style etc.

For me BF always meant realism gaming till now. When I want my "scifi kicks" I stick to unreal/quake etc. and for stuff like this BF. Now it looks like my next 3 large purchases will all be: Futuristic large scale war sims....
UT 2007, Quake Wars and BF2142.
Not much in the way of variety eh? :hmm:

The idea behind them of "futurisic" may be similar, but the engine, gameplay, graphics will all set these games apart.

LMAO, enhance like they did BFV? All they did was screw it up, make a ****ty game, and get thousands of loyal BF42 players to buy it. What a joke.
Then you have BF2 ,taking over a year to fix a few bugs, add 1 new map, and they still havent done anything progressive and only a few things the community wanted. Not to mention 2 different booster packs and an ex pack just to squeeze every last cent out of everyone. Keep defending them, its haliroius
Their " if the community outcry wants *insert feature here* that much, we will work on adding it" Just another way to say "No, we arent adding anything, but will cover our ass and say there is a possiblitiy"

DICE/EA already know Quake Wars is going to hand them their ass. It will be coded by the infamous John Carmack so it won't have any of the crappy bugs the BF series are plagued with, it will run 10x better while having superior graphics, it won't have dull gameplay to satisfy the noobie masses and the action will be fast. What more could a good gamer ask for? R.I.P. DICE/EA.

A Battlefield 2142 would be a 'sequel' to BF2 only in the same way as Battlefield Vietnam was a sequel to BF1942. This looks like a glorified expansion pack that uses the same engine for the most part (just like BFV which really didnt have a 'new' engine).

the true sequel to bf2 will probably be called bf3

Not hostile to the game at all, I was combing this forum and a variety of others hoping to glean any speck of information about BF2 in the long months prior to it's release,as many of us were.

It's not just BF2, it's a long list of games with so much prerelease hype and so many promises that weren't realized in what ended up on store shelves.

CFS3, Star Wars Battlefront, Soldner, Strike Fighters Project 1,ect.

I understand the constraints placed on developers by marketing, and the various other departments and their constraints involved in getting a project from code to the retail outlet.

As I said, people are up in arms about this patch and in a classic diversionary move, we get a cryptic string of numbers from someone at Dice and everyone is giddy at the prospect of 'BF2142'.

Meanwhile ET:QW is far along the development trail and Splash Damage is taking their time, every printed word I've read about the game has a "When it's ready" release date.
