There is a new update posted today over at the First Strike mod website. They are back with their third dev diary featuring Russel “Aquila” Jemmett. Take a look:
As some may know, we are very hectic behind the scenes, we have animations, skins, sound, new models and things being thrown out everyday! Its quite mad!
We have had a few let downs unfortunatly with the character modelling in the last few weeks, but we are on the ball now, as we have just recruited a highly talented 3D designer, Jesse. We all look forward seeing his work.
As you know, we released screenshots of my X wing about a month ago and we got a few negative comments. I took alot of time into more or less rebuilding it with the help of SCHrifle and we have what it looks to be our final X wing.

I have also been working on the ISD as of this week as I have had a week off from college. I have made a lot of content and trying to keep the details to low tri and poly counts has been a struggle. Re: First Strike Mod Update
Is the BF2 engine capable of being modified for a space sim type experience?
Anyone who has ever played X-Wing Alliance or the other X-Wing/Tie Fighter games are pre-conditioned into expecting that sort of control and versatility, will it have that sort of depth or is it just going to be a hack job to make it look like Star Wars but lack the feel? I’m not dissing on the mod but anyone who played ut2004troopers can hopefully relate to what I’m talking about, they put a lot of work into trying to add X-wings and Ties to their mod and while it looked good it just didn’t have the fun factor.Comment
