The strategy that seems to be unfolding AFTER the game has been created looks dismal to some. After the success of DC for bf1942 (which I tried out a few times), you would think that EA would be WAAAY more supportive to the mod community - especially because the current BF1942 sales are mostly due to the excellent work of the mod community. Look at the DC forums and you'll see posts like "I just bought BF1942 because a freind showed me DC, but where do I find the installer?".

It's a matter of frustration on the modders' side. It may be all a matter of perception, but seeing EA and DICE pump out expansion/booster pack after another, while still dragging their feet on supporting the mod community is downright frustrating for the mod community (my perception - i don't speak for the mod community).

That point coupled with the fact that these booster packs seem to releasing content that either A) other mods are currently working on or B) should have just been included in a patch.

Look at bf1942. Without expansions (though it did have), we were still treated to Battle of Britain (new plane and game mode), Coral Sea (actually that new game mode came here), Phillipenes (something like 2 new boats), and Cantean (which I believe added some other new vehicles). Also the Japanese were eventually outfitted with correct hand-weapons that were not original content (I believe they had some german guns). This new content came in patches, not in expansions.

With BF2 on the other hand, we got Wake Island. How about some more modern maps with a new toy or two?

Is this on purpose? Probably not, but the strategy seems upsetting for some. Others, not so much, most likely because they were not spoiled by the service we recieved in the BF1942 days.

Fact is: after all the touts about how BF2 will be mod-freindly, BF1942 is still easier to mod.
    Finally sombody who undestands me.
People who are asying boosterpacks are great have never played bf1942

Just one question: why does the Harrier has Russian UB-32 rocket pods under its wings?(As far as I know IRL they could only be glued there for compactibility reasons )

I'll most likely be picking this booster up, if it comes out before Desert Conflict, i wish they would have put the Ac-130 in... they will charge us another $10 for that later...

very true, didn't look at the harrier model... should have the CRV-7 Rocket Pods instead of the UB-32.

              CRV-7:

              UB-32:

Maybe instead of the OH-58 Kiowa or the AH-6 Little Bird they'll add in the RAH-66 Comanche for the US, since its designed as an armed reconnaissance helicopter.

              RAH-66:

Yeah I wish they would too but they'd probably nerf it so that it would suck. Hopefully USI or DesertCon will have the AC-130H (which is armed with: two 7.62mm mini-guns, two 20mm guns, two 40mm cannons, and one 105mm cannon)

True, but unfortunately, no full conversions have been released and I doubt they will be released before the first booster is released (hopefully the first verison of USI will be out in the middle of Feb).

I'd say don't count on it because the US Marine Corps uses the CH-53 Sea Stallion instead of the CH-47 Chinook, but seeing how they added the F-15 Eagle into the game instead of the F-14 Tomcat, I wouldn't put it past them to mess that up as well.

dont know where you get your info, but the jarheads (and i can call them that cause i was on a lhd) use both the 53 and the 47. but instead of calling it chinook its called a sea knight.

But where is the B52 and the AC130? I want to carpet bomb and circle spawns while launching huge explosive rounds/minigun fire in rapid succession.

The CH-47 Chinook and CH-46 Sea Knight are two completely different aircraft based on the same basic design. Sea Knights are smaller for a start, and pretty damn ancient. I don't think they've actually made new once since 'Nam. I've heard from US Marines that a lot of them still have the bullet holes in them from Vietnam that they patched up.

Also I'm with troybob. Before they start supporting the mod community with WORKING tools they'll bleed us dry with addons and "booster" packs untill all the stuff mods are making have been added in these packs (half assed I might add. Look at the Challenger 2 they made haha, what a joke!).

Personally I think little things like this should be added in patches. Give us a complete game before charging us for extra stuff, some of which was originally advertised as being in the vanilla release.

I see the concerns if EA will make the A-10's the A or C model... If they do use the A's, let me pass along some Fact’s from when I went to a war with the them (the A's in Desert Storm) ... I will take the A or the C in any BF2, it can get the job done! Tanks are going to Die !!! :ar15:

The A-10 armada maintained an average 95.5% F.M.C. rate from August 90 – March 91, Second to none!<O:p</O:p
A-10’s flew 17% of the total Air Forces sorties & achieved over 50% the confirmed Iraqi equipment losses.<O:p</O:p
Two A-10’s destroyed 23 Tanks in one day.<O:p</O:p
                                Combat Vehicles destroyed: 1855
                                Tanks destroyed: 990
                                Artillery Pieces destroyed: 925
                                AAA sights destroyed: 50
                                Radar Sights destroyed: 95
                                Scuds / Launchers destroyed: 50
                                Command Post destroyed: 30
                                Bunkers destroyed: 70
                                SAM Sights destroyed: 9

And of course the infamous A-10 FACT, One AGM 65 verses One Iraqi soldier on a bike… AGM 65 – 1 / Bike – 0
