I wouldn't call myself ignorant, though you are entitled to your opinion. Yes they made the game. That's a moot point though.

The strategy that seems to be unfolding AFTER the game has been created looks dismal to some. After the success of DC for bf1942 (which I tried out a few times), you would think that EA would be WAAAY more supportive to the mod community - especially because the current BF1942 sales are mostly due to the excellent work of the mod community. Look at the DC forums and you'll see posts like "I just bought BF1942 because a freind showed me DC, but where do I find the installer?".

It's a matter of frustration on the modders' side. It may be all a matter of perception, but seeing EA and DICE pump out expansion/booster pack after another, while still dragging their feet on supporting the mod community is downright frustrating for the mod community (my perception - i don't speak for the mod community).

That point coupled with the fact that these booster packs seem to releasing content that either A) other mods are currently working on or B) should have just been included in a patch.

Look at bf1942. Without expansions (though it did have), we were still treated to Battle of Britain (new plane and game mode), Coral Sea (actually that new game mode came here), Phillipenes (something like 2 new boats), and Cantean (which I believe added some other new vehicles). Also the Japanese were eventually outfitted with correct hand-weapons that were not original content (I believe they had some german guns). This new content came in patches, not in expansions.

With BF2 on the other hand, we got Wake Island. How about some more modern maps with a new toy or two?

Is this on purpose? Probably not, but the strategy seems upsetting for some. Others, not so much, most likely because they were not spoiled by the service we recieved in the BF1942 days.

Fact is: after all the touts about how BF2 will be mod-freindly, BF1942 is still easier to mod.

Amen. Booster packs (expansion packs, for those of you keeping score at home) with the same theme as mods out there, it is rather suspicious.

I think that Helicopter is neither a Kiowa or a Gazelle...although it looks like a gazelle with the exception of the tail rotor.

Oh i know that the model isn't a kiowa, I was saying that the US's Recon helicopter will probably be the Kiowa because thats what they use the most for Recon and Tank "Painting" (Marking it for LGBs).

Once I looked at it more carefully (and someone said the AS-350) I noticed that it wasn't the Gazelle but part of its family.

Very true, those are the nicknames but the official name for the A-10 is the A-10 Thunderbolt II.

depends what version of the A-10 it is, could be the Cold war version or the A-10C version

That would be retarded if they gave the US anything less than the most reason verison of the A-10, especially seeing how they gave the MEC weapons that aren't even available through export (like the T-90)

C'mon guys, any A-10 to be involved in combat in this era (I believe BF2 was goin for 2008), it would be the latest (not in testing) A-10.

Cold war era A-10's are utilized more for stateside protection - not forward battle area's. I saw a fly-over of A-10's over my work on some random day (and Arizona's Luke AFB is usually known for f-16's - not A-10's).

I would believe that those are non-MLU attack planes - not those in the thick of it.

Realistically, only the latest and greatest production A-10's would be deployed in a forward zone - unless we (the US and allies) were SUPER desperate.

Let's hope come Feb. that EA agrees.

I know that the USAF is still using some of the older verisons of the A-10 but there are also alot of bases that have the newer model. I also know that the USAF is planning on an even newer model. We were at Spangdalhem Air Force Base in Germany for five years, and they had A-10s there (as well as F-16s and F-15s).

and with all these version in production and use theres no idea what EA are modeling, i would like to see the C version withs its MDF's

the A-10 have no mather what version it is in the NATO name "Thunderbolt II" (2), the "Thunderbolt" (1) was the P-47

nup its not a Su-25 or Su-39

its the Su-25T, its basically an updated version of the Su-25 with some body changes like th sloped back

SU-25T's production designation is SU-39, so it is the same plane but with different official names...russians but, since it is in the hands of MEC I gess it is the export version with the designation SU-25TK...not that it realy mathers, I would be suprised to see if DICE/EA made the differences between the versions of the plane go into the game...T is by the way a antitank version of the SU-25 (which is only antiground, not spesificly antitank).

and the Harrier looks like a AV-8A+ Which is what the US Marine carrier based pilots use

the AV-8A doesn't have that little IR sigth ontop of its nose.
I gess it is the AV-8D which is an modified AV-8B with night attack capabilities:

its not a mod, its a booster pack by DICE, you'll have to wait until March before you pay $10 to get it.

Actually, thats a Chaingun, a minigun has multiple barrels. The chaingun is probably like the one on the Chinese attack helo or the APC.
