I wonder how many mods will jump ship when a new game is released like maybe Unreal 2007 or Enemy Territory: Quake Wars even. I guess it depends on how many people these other games can steal from the BF2 player base. BF2 isn’t exactly a moders wet dream, truly lackluster support from DICE right out of the starting block and the way they seem to make it doubly hard to create new content for the game it’s amazing that anyone has even bothered. I applaud their hard work and dedication.

As for the booster pack, if this will require yet another dedicated server and separate desktop executable for the user I don’t see myself bothering with it for only three maps, how else would they lock down the content from being stolen from them? Now if they did a migration thing where the existing base maps where modified to allow server operators to run vanilla maps with these new vehicles and weapons that would be worth it perhaps.

They’ve hesitated in touching on the existing maps because they didn’t want people to feel like they were repurchasing content they had already bought but I think this is a mistake, I would like to see all the existing content merged together and allow things like playing SaK at night with China vs SAS and having the option to replace vehicle types and armies with a simple template format that server operators could use to make unique engagements out of the existing content. Save the realism stuff for mods, this is just an arcade game after all, lets stop kidding ourselves on that one.

Are you talking about the booster pack? Because if you are, seriously, just stop posting. Everything that they're adding in the booster pack (weapon/vehicle wise) has new models.

Now, if you're talking about the upcoming patch, we'll all just have to wait and see what the two new unlocks are going to be, but most likely those will be new models as well.

Or if you're talking about the editor, I wouldn't know what you mean by new models, as I've never used the older verison of the editor or the new verison.

i was talking about the patch, like is anyone 100% sure we have to have the booster packs to get the new unlocks, because it sounds like that but they had new unlock in the list for the new patch

I think the new unlocks that they're adding are if you have the SF expansion, because that would make the most sense (seeing how you got new unlocks with SF for all the classes but the Sniper and Anti-Tank). Whether or not the new weapons from the booster pack are unlocks depends on whether or not they treat the boosters as a seperate game (like an expansion) or just new content to use ingame. If its a seperate game it could go either way (could be unlocks, but probably not), but if its jsut a content upgrade than it'll probably be new unlocks. Guess we'll just have to wait and see if they release any more info or wait until the 8th of Feb.

I think the news about the Euro booster states that the European army gets these weapons by default. Much like certain teams on SF have certain guns by default. It is my understanding that they aren't unlocks, but will just be there if you are the Euros.
