yeah the mods are gonna blow this expansion out of the water. too bad they won't be available at your local best buy so that any guy who owns bf2 (but doesn't keep up in the news) will try it out.

EA needs to hire me =)

im sick of trying to see what ppl think about something and being interupted by a bunch of ultra people making conspiracys about stuff

i think im going to buy it and nobody is gonna change MY thoughts about if or if not i will buy it

Good for you, you go ahead and buy it, then you will see how a few atvs and crossbows wasnt worth your money.

Just wait for mods people, dont buy a half assed attempt at an expansion pack, save your money for something more useful, like some toothpaste.

Go get'em Troy! Totally agree that mods will be better.

That picture with the zipline reminds me of Karkand with different lighting, and that guy running on the balcony-type place looks like he has a welding visor over his head at first glance. O_o

you're right. I mean, lets not forget how talked about "road to rome" and "secret weapons" were.

And lets also not forget the expansion packs for BFV. Oh wait.

Anyways - yes i'll buy it only because of my dedication to the mod community (lets not forget the pleasures that came from secret weapons that allowed DC to do the sa-3). The coding that the expansion brings to stock BF2 will be worth it. This will be confirmed in the patch that happens to roll near the time of special forces expansion release. Then the modders get to play with the changes DICE makes to even stock (without SF) code.

So yeah. There is no consipiracy. Not everyone knows that any mod even exists for video games. The majority of video gamers will not even know mods even exist. People STILL come to the Desert Combat forums to say "whats this all about". It's because people don't know. Is it a conspiracy? No. Is it a prosperous business venture to "make your own mod"? Of course. So it's not EA or DICE's fault. It's just that the modders need to understand that there is NO reward from EA or DICE except a pat on the back. Is that unreasonable? NO. It's business. Seriously. Any other path and they lose money, and EA has stockholders. It's business folks - deal with it.

People still buy BF1942 because of friends telling them how cool DC and FH is. The DC devs didn't do it for EA recognition. They did it because they loved to do it. Thats the tragic life of a modder. We don't make games. We make games better.

Thank you Zimnick. In fairness, totalbf2 is doing a very good job of keeping us updated on this offical expansion pack. Although I may stir the waters, I feel that this site does a good job.

DICE will in fact make a comprehensive expansion that satisfies the need of many.

However, the majority of the gamers that will play BF2 beyond its expected life-span will NOT be playing expansions, but will be playing MODS.

Again I am sorry for differing attention from the mod to my little argument. Totalbf2 needs to stay on topic, so please lets do so.

The screenshots look interesting. I hope it works out.

i agree with you here. sometimes people dont understand that not all people are into videogames like a true hobby. i for one am but my friend who i play BF2 with doesnt have the time an i guess the interest to be hoking round forums reading about mods etc etc. For him, this expansion will add another 6-8months of play and interest, new players etc that will keep him playing. for him this expenasion is perfect. alright he knows what a mod is but wouldnt be bothered to to keeps tabs on its development or to find servers on which they run. i personally look forward to the expansion since i play this game sooo much its getting just a bit boring (tourny play has help tho!). i also look forward to the excellent mods that are being made as we speak!

The only thing Im irritated about with this expansion is the recycling of the buildings and using the same weapons.
