    Re: Battlefield 2 Patch Preview

    Hi delta.David_Webb,

I did have this problem with my Audigy 2 aswell... However I formated my PC last week and downloaded these driver from soundblaster.com:

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support 2.08.0002 Dated September 21th 2005.

Maybe you should try them to see if they fix something or not? I'm asking this because I haven't played BF2 in 3 months (mainly because of bugs & unoptimized game) I'm waiting for 1.3 the reinstall the game again.

There's a real easy solution, you know:

Don't release the game until it works and meets common standards.

People have every right to get ****ed when they spend $$$ on a game and have to wait the better part of 6 months just to get HALF the bugs/issues ironed out.

Again, just because some people are willing to tolerate such ineptitude/greed doesn't mean we all should.

When I buy a television, I expect all of the features to work; not half of them.

And don't give me the rundown of the software industry: I've been working in it for some time and I'm rather familiar with it. I understand that bugs happen, but EA has a pretty infamous track record for this type of thing. Look at Epic, Valve, and Id: their games have bugs, too, but they pale in comparision in both quantity and impact.

It's not like releasing games in an acceptable state is impossible. Other studios/publishers do it all the time.

Thanks Tylenol - I'll give that a shot tonight!

If you were a girl I'd kiss you :)

I'd so rather wait for a completed game with a few bugs than have to go thru this crap everytime an EA game is released, it seriously makes me think twice now when I purchase a game from EA...

I understand the community wants the game and will constantly gripe over its date being moved or pushed back but that pales in comparison to the endless griping over a game thats been out a good 3 months and has had/will have 3 patches... I don't remember the demo having this many issues.
The memory loss patch , that wasn't found on the intial test? Man that was picked up pretty fast by the community and the game was only out maybe a month then.
Anyways... I haven't played BF2 for over a week and this is why.
If it continues to have problems after this patch I seriously doubt I'll be playing it much more after that.

            1. No EAX fixes for Audigy 2 users (you know, the ENDORSED soundcard for BF2)
            2. No widescreen support (this is 2005, right?)
            3. No netcode enhancements (maybe ask Valve or Epic for pointers)

This is a joke. My copy is going up on ebay for $5 (to cover shipping charges).
I'd probably buy it from you if I weren't damn near positive that the box and manual would be all wrinkled from your tears dripping on it all day.

Agreed for the most part. I can understand some minor gameplay bugs but when the server browser is fubar, that's just not acceptable. In fact, I'd have been fine with the original release if the server browser had worked properly. The rest of the issues are minor problems/scoring issues.

I've had lots of fun playing BF2 so far. That's the only standard required from a computer game. The game has worked just fine for me (gfx, sounds, eax), so maybe there's somekind of bug between your keyboard and your chair.

edit: Don't use the in-game serverbrowser. ASE has everything you need for a serverbrowser. Or is that too complicated program to use?

              BTW, bf2_patch_103.exe coming in t- 17 minutes :>

Are we still getting assists just for being a passenger when there is a kill!?
I understand the pilot (driver) getting an assist but why would other passengers get one too!

This is one of the reason I rank up lots of points yesterday just sitting in the blackhawk while watching Raw!

That link i posted is an official EA ftp site, so its not a fake unless someone hacked EA's ftp site, but i doubt it very much. Have fun

The PC gaming has turned into a cestpool of complaining and it really has gotten out of control. Most of the new people who complain really have no experience in the past of what the PC gaming industry was like 10+ years ago and how bugs existed than.
Now with a lot of these forums it has turned into a whinning spam-fest of people who have too much time on their hands and have no personal respect for anybody. People are much more rude then they used to be and the amount of incompetent people has increased. These people are really lazy and are first to post about a problem before even trying to search for a problem.
But there will always be the people who need others to wipe their asses for them. Not trying to take any of the blame away from EA and how maybe EA rushed this game out about maybe 1-2 months early; its a learning process and it is very hard to get thing right for the amount of systems out there worldwide and how each one is really different from eachother. It's really amazing that they actually get the game working for how many people out there that you don't hear from on the forums, but there will always be the minority in a forum who seem to speak for the majority of the world.
                              Welcome to the PC World!
