yup the auto switching mid game has got to go... you work your ass off helping your team win when all of a sudden your losing? it makes no sense

My wish list (not exhaustive by any means)
- no autoswapping of commanders, squad leaders, or squad members - in that order. ie. lone wolves swapped first. It is INCREDIBLY bad when you are in a squad with friends you know and someone is swapped out. =|
- fix bunny hopping
- fix vehicles killing people at just the barest touch
Personally I don't mind supply crates repairing commander's assets. On a public server it would be very hard to get someone to repair & defend them. As I often play special ops, taking them out is high on my priority list for the team.Comment

Interesting debate going here. Here are my thoughts.
1. Good on EA/Dice for listening to the community and deciding to do something. It could be sooner but so could my next holiday, the next version of BF, Christmas, etc etc.
2. In general I tend to subscribe to the theory that you shouldn't nerf anything to fix it. I prefer the approach where you make the opfor more powerful. There are exceptions (see below).
2. Like someone else said earlier I'm lukewarm on a lot of the changes. I agree that SpecOps should be rewarded for attacking strategic assets but don't those guys get enough points already? I appreciate the amazingly optimistic argument being made that some people are going to have to stay back on D but let's face it, this is not going to happen. All it means is that noone will play CO because he wont be able to do anything except watch.
3. Don't nerf the effectiveness of the BH when fully loaded. When 6 players work together their effectiveness should be greater (even much greater) than when they work alone. I love it that they can be so dangerous when they stick together. I am okay with EA/Dice blowing out the time it takes for a hover flag cap though. Everyone knows the only way to win a war is to occupy ground. You can't do that from the air.
4. I'm fine with an attempt being made against point whoring, but I don't think limiting the med/ammo packs or revives is the right way to go. I read something just now in the thread about detecting when someone is reviving the same guy numerous times after killing him numerous times - that sounded promising and a lot more creative than straight nerfing.
5. TKing is a hard one, but we need to try something here. Go for it!
6. For a multiplayer focused game, the server browser sure is ordinary, as we all agree. Favourites and Buddies are the obvious improvements. I would like them to go further though, and allow squads to form outside of games and then join servers as a complete unit. That way you would avoid the situation where only some of your squad manages to login before it fills. Also, the game should never split up a formed squad in the name of auto-balance. I thought they wanted to promote squad play? Swap whole squads maybe, but that sounds tricky.
7. In general I think EA/Dice should study the stats of which kits players are favouring and think up some way of improving the attractiveness of those that are less desirable. Not by nerfing the better classes though, although having said that I would be happier if they nerfed the lethality of C4 against armour. Being able to take out heavy armour just makes the SpecOps trooper so flexible - they are always going to be popular when they can attack anyone and anything. That would certainly improve the attractiveness of the anti-tank kit anyway.
Alrighty then. Essay complete methinks.Comment

Get out n00b, this game is obviously your first EA game. Get a list on what EA has done in all its games starting at MOHAA and check what Valve has done for the Half-Life series.Originally posted by Exitshut it, guys like you are giving EA a bad name. you make a list of everything EA has done bad and ill do one with all the good things EA has done.
as for the patch: awesome work, this will stop most of the whining
On Topic:
Patch looks promising, I hope they do not nerf the Support, medic or the engineer to try to stop stat whoring.Comment

Lol, the game was fine when released? Only idiots would think a game where your name is sometimes drawn in the enemy color, or that the flag freezes once in a while, or that it kicks you to the desktop when you use some ingame menu (spotted) is "fine".The thing is, 99% of things were fine when the game was released.
Almost all of these tweaks are for people complaining.
These patches are not the result of people complaining. They are the results of PROBLEMS that the huge testing & QA team at EA/DICE weren't able to find themselves, and only after hundreds of internet "hardcore" players started testing it is that they became obvious. Shoot the messanger because he won't bow down to the almighty power of EA, will ya?
It is a fun game, but there's no doubt it's ridden with some of the worst bugs I've ever seen on a FPS. After 2 or 3 more patches it can actually be a lot of fun - sans the frustration of locking up/being kicked because you TK'd someone but not really/being killed by your team 6 times in a row because your name is drawn in red/etc.Comment

There are a lot of bugs in BF2 that have already been explained and Im too lazy to explain them.
There are probably over 100 bugs in BF2 that need to be fixed but im going to explain 2.
(1.) I really, really think its getting annoying in the middle of the game I get a Norton Antivirus pop up. Half of my deaths are the cause of it. I have a few friends, and a few people online telling me they have the same problem, so its not just me ( though I get noobs telling me it is, just cuz they dont get it. )
(2.) Not really a bug, but something that pisses me off. That stupid forgive/punish system!!!
You have to be one hell of a nice guy if you dont punish ( and im one of them ) Its REALLY stupid to be a commander or something and get 2 TKs and get a -8...wtf is that? Wtf were EA thinking? Why do so many people punish? Why? Thats the question I have been asking since I bought BF2, Why the heck do people punish!! I know that people have already explained their hatred for the forgive/punish system but I had to get my anger out too...but BF2 kicks ass, dont get me wrong. Next patch will make it even better:).Comment

bf2 owns, yhea it has bugs all games do at some time or another, but they'll be fixed in time, its not like its easy to program an entire game or something, and not like all bugs are easy to find the exact cause, u gotta remember for half these games there's probably millions of lines of code in which these guys have to find the bugs in, which is far from easy, even with top of the line tools.
but anyway as for the patch
TK = yes fix this, OMFG please fix this, nothing pisses me off more than half those tards out there (you know who you are) that get mad when u hop in a vehicle and they run out infront of you, knowing that your coming and then give u a punish hit
medic = think it'd be half decent to have it watch if the persons reviving the same person over an over, but putting a cap on how many times u can revive seems kind of extream
support = omg fix the acuracy of the saw when in close range, i mean come on, i sat there who knows how many times letting bullets spray at people point blank, and i guess they somehow all missed, cause i get shot like twice and i die
spec ops = yhea they're a bit overpowered, but eh, there special forces they gotta be prepaired for everything lol, all i can think is maybe weaken the c4 a tad, making it take an extra one to blow something up, or maybe giving the specs 1 or 2 less c4 charges
engineers = i think they fine, tho i do think the shotty's range is a bit to far, i seem to be getting picked off by them from ontop of buildings and stuff which i highly doubt would happen, i'm getting 3/4 my health taken off by 1 shot when the guys way to far away to be doing that much dmg
ingame browser = yes favorites are a must, buddies would be nice but eh, half the time i got my friends on teamspeak or somethin anyhowComment

Like so many more people have been saying fix this crappy punish/forgive system its so stupid like so one runs over a mine you placed and its in plain site and you even left a little space for a vehicle to go through plus they can hear the little noise when youre next to mines and stuff plus the skull and crossbones icon and u get punished or some people run into your vehicle youre driving and get killed and punish you i feel like saying hey stupidshit i was driving in plain site you couldve just waited a second while i drove by then run across the road. And how is the logic of the teamkilling going to be changed like how is the game going to distinguish from accidently shooting someone or shooting on purpose or accidently running someone over or running over people on purpose.Comment

I thought I heard somewhere the way the Punish System is being revamped was you are allowed 2 TKs by gun before the Punish option becomes available and 5 TKs by explosives before Punish Option.
I hope thats right, it'd be an improvement! They need to also fix the vehicular TKs and just make them deaths.
One Thought I had, What about giving the victims of TKs that FORGIVE 1 point?
They could also make a new ribbon or award for people with multiple Forgives.
Just a thought!Comment

Then tell them to fix the goddamn sniper rifile accuracy. Its absurd that people with machine guns can pick you off better than a sniper rifle with the scope on. Also the damage from a sniper rifle too. If you shoot someone in the head they should get killed. Plan and simple not return fire. I appreciated this.Comment

Cmon guys! a blackhawk crew is only like a fortress with a properly communicated crew onboard i mean this is real teamwork you know the stuff that the game was designed for, if you got together properly as a team instead of moaning youd see that with good ground teamwork you can blow it outta that sky and thats 6 kills so it really works both ways!
an if you actually stayed to defend a base rather than go scratching round for flag captures you wouldnt lose so easily
