It's Official: Crysis 2 is Origin Exclusive

After beeing unceremoniously pulled from Steam earlier today, Crysis 2 is another to be pulled under the umbrella of "exclusive to EA's Origin."

The listing on the EA page for Crysis 2 says "BUY NOW - ONLY ON ORIGIN" with a handy link direct to the Origin store page.

Keep in mind that Star Wars: The Old Republic is already slated to be an Origin exclusive title upon its release.

Is a mass EA exodus from Steam and other digital outlets upon us?

why is it ok for Valve games to remain exclusive to their platform?

I actually prefer origin, at least it doesn't force you to run the program every time you want to play something.

Because Steam doesn't JUST have Valve titles on it. It has hundreds of third party titles available through its service. Origin will only have EA published titles. That's a very key difference.

EA Origin going to suck; EA failed before with their attempt of a digital download system years ago. I will only buy games off Steam (unless for very specific reasons, I.E. DNF collector edition), I've never liked EA, nor their support. Origin is way late to the game and is not going to offer anything special. If they only offer EA titles that's just stupid; either EA can have fun with their origin; I won't be supporting it.

After seeing all of this I have officially decided to suspend all EA purchases from now until all of this is clarified and or undone. EA's Origin is an absolutely awful idea, Steam makes sense because hundreds of game developers inhabit it but a service solely around EA's games or any one developer for that matter is just plain dumb. What next? Is every single developer going to create their own client for their games so we have 50+ clients on our computers?

Valve controls 80% of the digital distribution market for video games, this was a really dumb move for EA. I can tell they don't want another company getting a percentage on their profits(Valve) but what they fail to realize is they just closed themselves off to a MASSIVE chunk of the PC gaming market by severing ties with Steam and its userbase; hell you just lost one customer and I know many more will follow.
