After the relatively large success of Resident Evil: Degeneration, the first CG Resident Evil film, an all-new CG theatrical release is in the works. Entitled Resident Evil: Damnation, the new CG film will once again star Leon S. Kennedy.
The film is currently in production and is slated to be released in Japan in 2012. It will be a 3D film. There is no word yet on when or even if it will be released in North America, but if it's anything like Degeneration, it will be released later on down the road.<!--more-->

While the predecessor "Resident Evil: Degeneration" had only a limited 2-week / 3-screen theatrical release in Japan, Box Office sales surpassed 40 million yen, and the home video release has shipped more than 1.6 million copies worldwide, making the film a global hit.
