  • The Great Counter-Strike 2 Petition

An online petition for Counter-Strike 2 is gathering steam thanks in part to the efforts of a small but persistent group of gamers. Since its start earlier this month the petition, which has its roots on Facebook, now has over 2,700 members.
This groups serves as a petition directly to Valve Corporation, the developers, publishers and distributors of popular PC (and Xbox) game Counter-Strike: Source. (http://www.valvesoftware.com/) that there is demand, and interest in a new and updated version of Counter-Strike: Source, since it is still very popular 5 years after the current version was released.

We are aiming for an official response from valve.
The petition has also led way to an official petition site dedicated to the cause. Knowing full well what little effect online petitions have, we'll leave it up to you if you would like to join the Facebook group in favor of the petition or not.

However, keep in mind that it is rumored that a huge update is in the works at Valve for Counter-Strike: Source. This update, among other things, looks to bring CS: Source on to the most recent version of Source that was introduced in Left 4 Dead 2.

I really don't see this going anywhere. Source still hasn't overtaken 1.6 and the newer generation wants all that cod stuff.
Make a cod copy and slap on the CS name? Could do well on the market, but guys like me who used to play CS already have little interest in CS and even less interest in a modified version of it.

FYI, Source already overtaken 1.6 a while ago. Check the latest stats on the Steam site.

I just did, and you are right, though the difference in players is very little.

Counter strike source is old now. Lived on that game when it come out. It was great the only thing keeping it going is the mods And custom maps. Cod is the best at the moment But die down quicker cos mainly consoles play cod these days and hardly any mods. until valve come up with a updated cs
