The Borderlands Font Debacle

    UPDATE: Community reader, Supacasey, has informed us that the community has already found a quick work around for this issue, at least on the PC.
    Go to %BORDERLANDS%\WillowGame\Localization\INT\
    Find the gd_globals.INT file. MAKE A BACKUP.
    Open the gd_globals.INT file.
    Replace
AttributePresentationTranslation="$NUMBER$ $CONSTRAINT$ $DESCRIPTION$"
with
AttributePresentationTranslation="<font size="10">$NUMBER$ $CONSTRAINT$ $DESCRIPTION$</font>"
Console owners of the game will still have to wait for an official patch for this.

    Original: An issue of font sizes is affecting the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of Borderlands. Apparently, the font size is too large for the weapon stat listings across all three platforms.

    This larger font has actually caused a number of stats to remain hidden from view of the player and items that may appear identical are not actually identical afterall.

    This issue was first brought up on the Gearbox forums by "InnocentSinner" after they changed the font in use with their game.

    Unchanged vs. changed font
    Yes, this is due to the fact that currently, the game does not display the fifth line of items. on PC, we have the opportunity to change display settings, and after some people provided ways to do so.... here are the result

    I have acquired this mercenary mod for over 3 days now, I have gotten mods with better attack damage, higher skill points, but somehow.. the sell value of this one has alwasy been significantly higher than others. Due to the rumor of unshown properties... I decided to keep them and see if i get lucky

    and thanks to the tip of people from PC technical section, I changed the font of the game, so now it shows five lines

    and.... after some tweak, surprise! so... yeah... until the dev fix this on consoles.... i recommend you guys to keep any mod that seem to has suspicious high sell values.

    The real kicker is that even with the changed fonts, not all stats may show up still. The font can only be changed between three alternate fonts and still may end up limiting the display.

    PC users can still check out the font change functionality right here. Console users are a bit SOL until Gearbox releases a patch across all platforms that properly displays all stats for the weapons.

    Cannot find "Localization" folder and therefore cannot find "gd_globals.int" in my WillowGame folder. I have steam version if this helps.

      Go to: C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/borderlands/WillowGame/Localization... then the file should be in there. Edit with notepad.

        This is one of the older workarounds. There is a newer one that simply lets you change your font size. Myself, and others at the forum have been doing this for a while, same font, and allows 6 lines to be visible.

          How do you do the new workaround? I got my game from D2D, and I don't have the folder, or files needed to use this workaround.
