MAG Servers Slammed in Light of New Players, Patch

Servers for the Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive, MAG, have been getting hammered today and we're not talking alcohol here. Those who have just received codes to enter into the beta have been met with sluggish download speeds and unresponsive servers when trying to play the game.

A number of factors are contributing to this slowdown, chief among them the massive 3GB patch that was recently released to beta participants. Couple that with the recent influx of new players and you have a recipe for disaster.

Sony and Zipper Interactive plan on taking down the MAG servers over the weekend in order to try and sort out the server load issues. Those who were expecting to receive their beta keys today will now have to wait until Monday at the earliest.

MAG is still slated for release this January. Hopefully, this beta will iron out all of the kinks in the system.
