Planet Half-Life snagged a new interview with Valve's Chet Faliszek concerning all things Left 4 Dead 2 related. Faliszek discusses the team's decision to make the game take place in New Orleans, how mod authors can easily bring their campaigns over to Left 4 Dead 2, and much more.
Faliszek continues on to explain how everything in Left 4 Dead 2 has been redone, including the look of the first game's special infected. Future plans are also discussed in brief, with promises that the original game will not be forgotten about.
Apart from the changes to the A.I. Director and the added content, what changes have been made to the Source engine for this latest release, if any?
Chet Faliszek: You will see a lot of things in the shadows and the lights, because this time we have more light than before, and so we want to have the horror element come to that. There are a lot of underlining changes, there is a whole new gore system in there. We can see now the common infected get ripped apart and everything. We've got a lot of water effects which we've done. Our storm effects and a lot of the particle effects that you will see. A lot of the technology you will be working with, how ragdolls work, how you can jip them when you throw a pipe bomb, they will all explode out now, there's a lot of physics work done. Every time we release a game, we continue to update the source engine. There's a lot of small changes and a lot of large changes.
