1UP had a little hands-on time with the Wii exclusive, Dead Space: Extraction. How does the on-rails shooter compare to the game's original roots.

Extraction's co-op gameplay is probably the most important addition to the game -- it lets new players ease into the limb-severing action, while allowing veterans the chance to finally explore the USG Ishimura with a friend. The game adjusts its difficulty on the fly (both in how tough your opponents are, and how many you face), but even with a partner, you'll still face horrific boss fights against massive, building-sized monstrosities. Like in the original Dead Space, ingenuity in using your environment looks to be more important than simply unloading endless clips into the hungry aliens. One tentacled monstrosity I face off against sports some familiar glowing bulbs at the end of each appendage (an obvious "shoot me here" sign), but guiding the beast into the spinning blades of an exhaust vent takes a little more finesse -- especially since you don't usually have direct control over the camera in the game.
