Two Sequels and a Movie for Dead Space

Variety reports today that Dead Space, EA's survival-horror deep-space opera, will receive the Hollywood treatment. Yes, a movie is in the works as are both a second and third installment to the game series.

D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) has been picked up to direct the upcoming film adaptation of the movie. Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and EA will produce the film.

While it was fairly certain that a Dead Space 2 would arrive, the announcement that EA was also working on a third installment already is rather surprising. Let's keep those fingers crossed that no sacrifices are made in order for the dual sequel to happen.

A second sequel for the game is understandable, since the first had a slight cliff-hanger, but doing a third is just pushing it.. the movie idea sounds great, depending on the director of course, as long as Uwe Boll has absolutely nothing to do with it, I'm happy with it.

Since EA is -- unfortunately -- part of the movie and the game.. we can only hope and expect that the game will not have any sort of expansion packs.
