I don't know how you're making that assumption. Crytek haven't shown any footage of CryEngine 3 running on PCs. And consoles aren't stagnating technical development. Powerful engines are still being made on PCs.
Intruiging... I thought the spike in comments in here were about Alan Wake... I guess Remedy has little to worry about while we are busy distracting ourselves, fighting the controversial fight between PCs and consoles (still)... I wonder how this will look the next time I drop by this news post?
raptor552, real-time rendering has kind-of hit a standstill. There's not a lot further developers can go, even though hardware is getting faster and faster. Things like ray-tracing are still beyond the capabilities of our hardware.
