An industry analyst feels confident that Modern Warfare 2 is going to smash records left and right. In 2009 alone, analyst Mike Hickey predicts that 11.1 million units of Modern Warfare 2 will be sold. The first day sales are already estimated to hit $338 million, which would make it the largest video game release of the year.
Given the continued strong showing of Modern Warfare sales into early 2009, and the growth of the home console install base over 2008, these estimates do not sound too unreasonable.
In addition, a new developer interview was conducted by G4. The team interviewed Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling to discuss the game's pacing and variety of gameplay experiences in Modern Warfare 2. Be sure and hit the jump for that video!<!--more-->
Modern Warfare 2 is still slated for release on November 10, 2009 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC systems.

We believe current street consensus for fiscal Q409 unit ship ranges from 9.0 to 10.0 million units (Modern Warfare’s sold through an estimated +7 mill units in fiscal Q408), suggesting potential upside to street expectations."
