Valve's Chet Faliszek Talks Left 4 Dead 2 with RPS

Update: Some of the pieces of information ripped from this interview include the following.
    - Locational damage (limbs, chunks of torsos)
    - They run for longer periods of time
    - Shooting the arms off of an infected doesn't mean you're safe from harm
    - "The Charger" is the new boss infected
    - The Charger has a giant arm that plows through obstacles and characters as it "charges" towards you
    - There are MORE infected that have not yet been revealed yet
    - The old special infected are still there
    - Hazmat suit infected are fireproof
    - Witches will get up and wander around now
    - More maps are coming for the original Left 4 Dead
    - Full SDK and new matchmaking system rolling out the "week after E3"
    - Rochelle (reporter from Cleveland), Ellis "The Mechanic", Coach (high school coach and actually named Coach), and Nick
    - Campaigns tied together better than in the first game
    - AI Director 2 has an impact on the weather, map layout, enemy placement, and item placement

Original: Rock, Paper, Shotgun's latest Podcast has just gone live and it contains an exclusive interview with Valve's Chet Faliszek. Faliszek, as you may already know, is the project lead on the Left 4 Dead franchise.
Within is comprehensive coverage of the new game, the new ideas, the new weapons and campaigns and characters and Infected. You’ll find this nowhere else on the internet. It’s still a Rock, Paper, Shotgun podcast, of course, so there’s also plenty of discussion about our mums, swine flu, and Chet’s horror at John’s foul language.

Chet talks not only about the new elements to the game, but also gives us some background as to why Valve chose to make a whole new game, rather than expanding upon the original. There’s also information on how this doesn’t mean L4D is forgotten. And if that sounds too sensible, you can also hear John as Chet questions like, “2?” and “Is this the best interview you’ve ever had?”

You can directly download the audio interview here, or check out the RPS Podcast page. There are also iTunes and a RSS feed available for two more Podcast acquiring options.

Sounds like they're making a huge over haul with L4D^2. Looking like loads more fun and the fact more maps for the original sounds great also.

sounds like they are making an expansion pack and selling it for full retail. Looks like valve finally figured out that they can do this with their huge console market from L4D, hopefully this doesn't transfer over to TF2, which is that last great PC FPS.

Why is this a full game? Doesn't make any sense at all.. it's basically the same game.. except with a frying pan.. and more day time maps.. this is ridiculous. I honestly felt like they were going to announce Episode 3, or hell even HL3, but man not even a rumor.. I'm done with L4D, it's time to move on.

I'm done with paying for half games. when they wonder why people P2P their games it's because they are feed up of being ripped off.
