id's CEO, Todd Hollenshead, sat down with the crew from GameSpot to discuss most everything that the company is hard at work on. He dishes on Rage, Doom 4, Quake Live, id's new focus on multi-platform gaming, and just why they don't want to work on the Wii.

So Doom 4 is still way down the pike, right?
TH: Yeah, I mean, we're in--it's not preproduction, but we're still early on in that. The team is relatively new. We're still actually hiring people for the team as well, so it's not completely built out. But we really just started on that last year. It's very much deep in development. But everything I've seen on it is classic Doom, so I don't really have worries that people aren't going to like it and start talking about it.
And is it a sequel? A reboot? A prequel?
TH: Gosh, that's actually an excellent question. It's not a sequel to Doom 3, but it's not a reboot either. Doom 3 was sort of a reboot. It's a little bit different than those, and if I told you why, I would get my ass kicked when I got back. So I'll just have to leave it at that.

• Rage's assets may total 100GB once they near the end of the game's development. Prior to being fully finished, the team will cut back on the unused assets, but the game is still slated to fully "saturate" a Blu-ray disk and will ship on multiple DVD's for the Xbox 360 and PC releases.
• Rage won't be as "open world" an experience as Fallout 3, but will be more open compared to their other titles.
• The initial response to Quake Live was overwhelmingly positive.
• The fans have not really had many complaints about the usage of ads in Quake Live.
• id will make an appearance at E3, despite earlier rumors to the contrary. At E3 they will show off Wolfenstein and "some new stuff" that has not been announced yet.
