Valve Discusses TF2 Updates, Microtransactions, and Steam Controllers

IGN had a nice sit down with Valve's Doug Lombardi in which he talks about future Team Fortress 2 updates, Left 4 Dead, microtransactions, and the potential for PC controllers with a "Steam" branding.
We're going to keep moving forward with that and moving on to more classes, giving them a similar update as we gave for the medic," Lombardi said. "We'll be talking about that in the next couple of months and I'd imagine there'd be a release out this summer. There'll probably be a new map that goes with it as well."
As for those "Steam" branded controllers, Lombardi states, "It's actually something that, I mean there's nothing to announce yet, but it's something we're definitely looking at."

Microtransactions are still being tested on Counter-Strike in the Asian market. There's no definitive answer yet on whether or not that payment option will make its way State side.

Why copy the 360 controller design? Surely Valve could come up with something more original? Let's hope it's only an initial stage mockup.

I say no to ALL "Micro transactions"!!! We are already paying a lot more for games now .....with less...and less content. Then they want to charge more.

I'm pretty sure that's just some IGN image that they mocked up to go with the article. Not something that Valve designed.

Yeah the article only mentions that they are considering making a controller. Thats just something ign did.

Why would they make a controller? most steam games are best played with keyboard/mouse.

Maybe they should think about making a Steam keyboard/mouse combo.. oh wait nevermind. At launch it would have many bugs that would take years to fix up.
