Well, that sure seems like that's going to be the case with some of the upcoming changes mentioned in PC Gamer for Team Fortress 2. Along with the new achievements, there will be new items and abilities for all classes, starting with the Medic.
The Medic will now have an item that can permanently double the health capacity of one target. Dubbed the Overhealer, this new item will be offset with a longer Uber charge time, or the removal of the Uber for this item all together.
Another caveat of being able to use this new item is that the player must earn at least half of the 35 new achievements planned for the Medic. Oh yes, there will be a second unlock that Valve is working on that comes when someone obtains all of the 35 new achievements. No details on this new item are available yet.
Supposedly, you will not be able to select your extra item on the fly. Hopefully this will be done only in the character selection screen. Expect to see a lot of servers populated with Medics once this update hits.
Goldrush is the name of the second of two new maps set to be released for Team Fortress 2 in the near future. Think of this new map as being a VIP-Lite in that one team must escort a mine cart from area to area. Set up much as Dustbowl is, with a segmented map style, the new mode will certainly test your teamwork abilities.
The Blue team must stick near the cart to get it rolling along the track. The more Blue team members there are near it, the faster it'll move. If there's a Red team member near the cart, it'll stop moving just the same as if there were zero Blue members near it. Think of this as a CP map with a perpetually moving capture point.
PC Gamer has promised that there would be more details in next month's issue, but if you want it straight from the horse's mouth this month, pick up the latest issue of PC Gamer which should be on news stands now.
