Hey if this matchmaking thing means I can find a server that isn't playing deathmatch, rpg, warcraft, gungame, zombie, or any of those other dozens of mods, I'm all for it.
Push a button, play on the lowest ping server with no bots, no mods, and a map with an actual objective, I'd love that.Comment

Maybe because Terrorists like me would camp in the most irritating places. Like the exit signs above the doors or on the bookshelves on the top floor (with my head through the ceiling), back when you could still move the hostages and keep them all in the room with you.Comment

Hopefully this won't prevent me from changing my name to "Julie" and joining "noobfest 24/7 nubs only" servers like the nancy that I am.
Think this'll help even out unfair battles.

But they're building the homosexual part of the community with you specifically in mind.
Valve should spend less time on these homosexual 'communities' and more time on retarded bugs that should have been fixed years ago.omgomgz wrote..
"This matchmaking is brought to you by Snickers and Intel..." Even if we don't pay at the start... we will, in one form or another.
"It sounds like it will have a number of Xbox Live Gold's features, but without the fee."
I wouldn't be too sure about that.Thortok2000 wrote..
Screw Thortok2000; I say Thortok for 2008! Way better presidential candidate than you'll find in the group they're giving us Yanks to choose from.

Ahhh, the memories... *reminisces* That Exit sign and I had some good times together along with our friend Mr. Deagle.

It wasn't like... de_rotterdam or de_storm dark, but it was a bit dim. Vegas just plain didn't play well in my opinion, and despite some fun rounds on it, by and large it was just an exercise in waiting for your ears to stop bleeding from the hideous arcade background noises.
It was really dark and no one wanted to turn their brightness up for it. Or maybe that was Vegas, hell I don't know those were years ago.
Backalley's downfall (in my opinion) was in having a few too many routes and a bit more complexity than your standard dust-style 2-3 chokepoints map. That and it wasn't exceptionally graphically pleasing. I still would play it in a heartbeat over the normal dust/aztec/office rotation in seemingly every populated pub.
Anyway, hopefully this turns out to be something cool and useful. If not, well... we've gone this long without, so just ignore it and figure you're no worse off. Unless you're Gpig and people complain for your constant use of profanity and racial slurs against orphans.

In my opinion, backalley's downfall was a lack of distinguishing landmarks. Very difficult map to learn when everywhere looks like everywhere else.
One of my favorite things to do was as a CT, rush left, past the square-shaped choke point (which you could only do if the T's were slow or you just blast through them), and up the ladder next to the square-shaped choke point.
This takes you to the stairwell which you can go down, and usually T's are expecting you to be coming UP this stairwell... (From having rushed right, gone through the small alley, and be trying to enter the hostie room by darting through a corner of this stairwell.)
I got so many knifes that way...
But yeah, everywhere looked like everywhere else.
I think most CS players just don't like to play on a map they don't know. They don't understand how to learn a map. Me, I like playing on a map I don't know. It gives me the feeling that my enemies could be around any corner until I learn which corners contain chokepoints, etc.Comment
