    Valve's "Steam Community"

CVG just busted open the lid on one of Valve's grand community projects, The Steam Community.
The headline feature is one-click matchmaking, both for new games and existing ones such as Counter-Strike. You'll be able to jump straight into a game with players of your skill level, with no history of griefing, by pressing a single button. It also lets you form a party with your friends, and automatically find a game that you can all jump into and play together.
As if that weren't enough, the plan is to give groups the ability to have their own dedicated chat channel across all games, join games as a group, and schedule group meetings or game times. That isn't even the best part.

Each gamer will also have their own personal page set up that will house all kinds of statistics. These will include specific details on how well you play the games you do, trends in your gameplay style, and what sort of a player you are. It sounds like it will have a number of Xbox Live Gold's features, but without the fee.

Way to copy something straight from WoW !

Still, sounds pretty good considering the current unorganised community.

They should allow you to read the complaints filed against users and for you to read the complaints filed against you, kind of like a guestbook (or a mini-mall). That way you could see all the cool complaints I had.

They should fix the Parsing game info bug on CS first. Tbh.

I like being able to have matchmaking.. It's frustrating to team up with or play against a person sometimes on different games, and think that hey, just maybe, they have the same skill level with you.

Think this'll help even out unfair battles.

I'm pretty sure there isn't anything original in wow, it's just a combines great aspects of other mmorpgs (nothing against wow I think it's great). Perfect idea, the fps online community is just as big as any mmo community so why not have more tools available to get together.

Lets just hope these tools are not buggy and worthless, think the friends list.......

Valve should spend less time on these homosexual 'communities' and more time on retarded bugs that should have been fixed years ago.

Yet another good steam update in a complete void of CS:S updates.

Basically they're taking Xbox Live's gamertag system and lumping it into Steam.

And if experience with XBL is anything to go by, it's safe to say this will end up being crap. It's already bad enough on XBL with people marking your reputation down as leaving early or TKing or whatever just because you beat them, which is going to be a huge mess when combined with the average CS player's refusal to believe that anyobody else is at all better than themselves.

Gamertag broken-ness + even more retardism from the CS community = phail.

I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Hopefully they won't include a rating system. The outlined idea sounds good so far.
