This Rock 24 looks pretty interesting -- I'll have to download it sometime...

If you're doing nothing but troll anymore, you can have a nice, extended vacation. You can post dissenting views, I don't care. But when you act immature, that's when I start to pull the plug. Keep that in mind next time you want to post here. :)

Why do people feel like, they HAVE to present their views in a very offensive manner, completely rude and immature, and then, when they get punished for it, think it's because of their views?

                  Offensive behavior, not allowed.

                  Views of any kind, allowed.

                  Offensive behavior, not allowed.

Offensive, behavior, allowed it is not.

You wonder what you have to do to get it through to some people. Say what you want, just say it in a mature way! Or is that more than you're capable of doing?

                  Sigh.

I, for one, like it when people in-offensively disagree with me. I love to debate like rational, logical, thinking beings, and either learn something, or teach something, depending. But throwing around insults and profanity is pointless. It reminds me of monkeys throwing dung at each other. And above all, it's not constructive.

Anyway. Rock 24 does sound kind of interesting, by concept. I tend to like singleplayer games more than multiplayer ones, when in first-person like source.

Yes, being constructive is great. That's why it infuriates me when several intelligent people, such as myself, spend time gathering evidence of a bug that has a major impact on gameplay, only to have a CSNation authority figure give some snotty reply.

I mostly agree with Thortok on this one, except I personally somewhat enjoy watching monkeys fling poo at each other. Sure, it's not mature, but it is kind of amusing to everyone who isn't a monkey themselves. Unfortunately, in this analogy Zips is the zookeeper, so the m4elite monkey picked the wrong target to fling his poo at.

Anyway, Hutz, I think I speak for the majority of us here when I say that we'd definitely be interested in seeing easy links to conclusive proof (rather than vague unlinked references to Steampowered posts) that such a bug does in fact exist.

Zips posted a link to Alfred's response pointing out that it couldn't be proved on a listenserver. The obvious counter-point would be posting a link to conclusive tests and results done on a dedicated server setup, with as much evidence present as possible.

Simply saying it exists doesn't help, neither do vague references to the tests of others. There's no need for you to have to carry your argument on the weight of your reputation; if the evidence of which you speak is public and conclusive, it can be referenced, linked to, and the facts can speak for themselves. If it is not, however, then there really isn't a point in arguing the matter.

That's not to say that I'm objective in this matter. I honestly don't even play CS:S anymore and haven't for some time, so Steam client updates interest me more than CS:S bug fixes at this point, seeing as they affect the other games that I do play. However, the method to proving one's point remains the same despite my lack of objectivity: the burden of evidence is on those who claim there is a problem -- let's see some.

Anyway, I too downloaded Rock 24 and am looking forward to giving it a spin here in the near future. I gotta finish my latest run through Half-Life: Source first, though. :)

Yeah, I can see why a new water texture could give a nearly 10-year-old game new replay value.

                        ..what?

Nighthawk, what you are saying is absolutely correct. That is why I and many others are clambering to get some solid proof. There is proof that it exists, but it is not CONVINCING proof (it is for me because I've seen the whole story, but unfortunately not many people have). I want to get convincing proof that is difficult to simply deny.

On the opposite note, there is no proof that it works the way it's supposed to, because otherwise, well, we'd have proven that no bug exists. Seeing people deny that there is a bug without giving me proof or even an explanation is quite frustrating, since their (and even Valve's) words alone do not convince me of anything - the proof is in the pudding, and when I see proof that there is or is not a bug, I will finally shut up about this whole matter.

There are some times when people discuss something (Such as a defuse bug or something) that I completely agree with, but the aggressive manner in which they give their opinion in makes me think they're ignorant.

"teh fecking defuse bug is sh*t man. 's gay. valve u ****ers fix tat bs now ffs, i is tierd of pplz defusing the bomb thru teh wall, and tis bullshi, fix it, fix it, fix it now or me brain will 'splode."

Whew. Typing like that takes me longer than if I type with proper spelling... :-\

Even if you have the best argument in the world, nobody will listen to you unless you argue respectfully. Which is what I've been aiming to do.

We had a debate class for the first semester one year. Last year perhaps, and it's a shame nothing ever TRULY got accomplished in it. A few mock debates, but everyone was busy "mock"ing the debate class itself, instead of a mock debate. Even though it's hard to admit, that includes myself at times, but I think now it would've been a great thing to have gotten better at. Instead, it's taking the basics we did learn and trying to teach yourself.. :P
