    Perhaps they're evolving CS:S into CS2?

hopefully they're evolving it into CZ:Source. I'd like to see the spetznas and midwest militia models added eventually.

The point is really, that CS:S shouldn't be a 'work in progress'. When they first announced it and launched it, it was advertised as being 1.6 but with the new Source engine, and that a 'CS2' would be on the way. 'Course as this shows, that's not the case.

Quick, someone sue VALVe for false advertising.
It was evident on release that it wasn't 1.6 on the source engine. They should have told people to look at it as a remake/update on the source engine. They advertised it as more of a port with source physics and graphics. I think that's what pissed me off the most about source.

You can't just port something and update graphics and physics, hell some game companies can't even port from console to pc without screwing the game up, I wasn't surprised that source was soo much differn't from 1.6. What ever their intention was it obviously didn't work out, at least be happy they are trying to make CSS all that it can be. I do hope they will make a CS2 and stray even farther from what we are used to, i'd love to see the same feel with allot of new content and gameplay elements.

It was from gabe himself. It was on a video when they were talking about HL2 and that CS:S would come with it. They guy so we would'nt see CS2 or is the CS2. Something like that. He said no you will see CS2. In fact they are working on that right now.

I can't find that video. It was right when they were showing HL2 and said that CS:S was coming with it. I did find this
              Does this mean we won't see a Counter-Strike 2?

"No, of course you will. We've started the rought planning for the next Counter-Strike, something we won't start the development of before we've all had a loooooong vacation."

I don't think Valve EVER said CS:S would be a port of 1.6 ever anywhere. Not in any adverts, any interviews, anywhere.

In your support - in this interview they actually said the opposite:

Q: With the original Half-Life being ported to Source, are you giving it a overhaul like you did with Counter-Strike or is more of a direct port?

A: The original Half-Life will be more of a direct port, with some minor enhancements added. So, no it's not getting as significant of an overhaul as Counter-Strike.

It's obvious it wasn't 1.6 on the source engine not because some cal e-extreme pro gamerz didn't find every pixel on dust2 in their right place, but because it was so clearly and older version of CS ported to the source engine with the 1.6 features hacked in. Hence why stuff like the old silent ladder was still in source while 1.6 already had the new crouch silent ladder.

In my opinion source's problem isn't that it's too different from 1.6, but that it's too much the same. It's basically the same game except it needs a better computer, and still runs and lags worse. That's why I don't like it.

CAL Gamerz would hate it and say it was too different if it was exactly the same as 1.6 except with a different icon, let alone just 1.6 with physics and graphic updates.
