    New Mailbag Question

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Yes, that headline is correct. Head on over to the mailbag submission section to voice your opinion on the new mailbag question!
First, it was eliminating the long standing AWP quick-scope exploit. Now, an enhanced radar is planned. It also seems there may be a good number of changes in store for us after the radar change comes around. Some love the changes, some hate the changes, and others are indifferent and simply adapt without much fuss.

It's becoming clear that CS: Source is moving even further away from its 1.6 roots. Is this really a good thing? Do you like the changes, hate them, or do you not even care about the changes made?
There you have it ladies and gents. A brand new mailbag has been set forth into the wilds that is the Counter-Strike community. Please, be gentle. It hasn't seen the light of day for quite some time now.

These are not big changes. The dropped unused grenade feature was a bigger thing when they added it to CZ first. Besides the graphics CZ is still much more evolved than cs:source. It has great hostage behavior/AI, the radar/radio location system, and an easily scriptable buy menu.

In terms of gameplay changes, it's a large enough leap for some people... But then again, that's why there's the wonderful, little mailbag.

it gives the game more depth, and to be honest... i doubt anyone can play CS 1.6 for more than 5 minutes without feeling like its getting boring and repetitive.

        love the changes.

CZ is like taking your car (lets say '01) and adding a fresh coat of paint, new seats, tuning the engine and suspension, etc. It's still your car that you always loved, but now its sexier and more fun to drive.

Source is like dumping your car and buying an '06 model. It looks better than the old one, but it doesn't have quite the same curves, quite the same feeling. Only... you got sold a lemon with a shoddy engine, worn shocks, a heater that takes a longer time to warm up, and it has a tendency to cut off at any given time. XD

This update really wont change anything. Pubbers don't know how to use radar, and competitive players wont be getting any information they wouldn't get from their teammates.

And no one cares about HDR on train.

              (Referring to previous conversations)

I hate it when people complain about "OMG You don't like change, just deal with it." Especially the ones that are still playing 1.6.

You're just simply being hypocritical. No one wanted to change to 1.6 from 1.5, but everyone eventually did. There were hardly any places left on WON by the time it was ended. So before you complain about others complaining about change, think about how you still haven't changed to Source, and ACTUALLY gave it a try for longer than even an hour.

I understand people don't have the best computers, but their reasons for not switching to Source are they "Hate the physics" or "It just sucks."

I've played cs: source for about 110+ hours (according to xfire) and I still think that it's not just a 'patch' for us. It's a random bad game, like delta force extreme.

You spent 110 hours on a bad game?

Could be worse ... they could be putting the shield back in.

Lets face it CSS is a work in progress, but it really does have allot of potential, especially with valve working on it. 1.6 really does feel ancient but it's still allot of fun, lets hope 6 years from now we can say the same thing about CSS. I mean CS wasn't gold when it first came out and it wasn't a great game until a few years of fine tuning.

The point is really, that CS:S shouldn't be a 'work in progress'. When they first announced it and launched it, it was advertised as being 1.6 but with the new Source engine, and that a 'CS2' would be on the way. 'Course as this shows, that's not the case.

Quick, someone sue VALVe for false advertising.
