I'm sick of all of this fucking CS:S news.

How would that be an argument and not a discussion. If you are spotted and fall back now you do not have this ability that we used to have - This ability is the ability to "hide" from your enemies - This changes the game, might make it more exciting in a pub, but for any competitive league it is a huge change at the wrong time.
nobody should be playing source competitively anyways

                I missed this until now:
Soon, we'll be releasing the first in a series of updates to Counter-Strike: Source which will be focused on moving the core Counter-Strike gameplay forward.
The HDR Train and radar change are part of the first update. By the sounds of the quote, there will be a number of additional updates in the near future after this first one.

What else will be changed? What bug fixes will be carried out? How many migrains will I get from some of the people on the Steam forums? Tune in next time in two weeks time to find out!

Nobody knows how the new radar works exactly yet. It could last for as long as you have the crosshairs over someone and gone the next second. Until anyone sees it in action, why complain?
Regardless, it's a gameplay change — Valve admits that right in their community update, so I see his point. No one would be upset if Valve delayed implementing the radar until after the CAL season ended, and quite a few would be happier for it, so why not?

You're kidding me, right? The CS community wouldn't complain if this happened after the CAL season ended? You've been around long enough to know that the CS community complains at any point in time when a new update is announced or implemented. No time would be a good time to have announced this. Furthermore, Valve doesn't base their schedule around the competitive CS leagues. I don't see them starting to any time soon either.

Well the radar feature sounds pretty pointless is this to stop hackers or create more?

WOW another update to another already made map....... where are the rest of the maps...., There on about improving gameplay.. well how about make the rest of the maps so people dont get bored before you have even released the gameplay updates! it is getting abit of a bore playing the same maps now....

How about implementing bug fixes to simple bugs that have been there since beta?, hitboxes, crouch bug, Hostage AI...... these really cants be that hard to sort out... yet they are taking years! Sort it out! before releasing new updates to create yet more bugs that will never get fixed!!

Nice to see that there are updates coming for CS:S but from what i can see atm they seem pretty pointless and not really an update more like a sad excuse to say they are doing something to update CS:S...

Dont get me wrong change is good but the changes seem like stupid ones with so many things still wrong with the game...

                        BTW wheres my VIP at???

                        He die of stress...or what?

WOW sounds great!!! I like to see the damn fake reload sound fixed. Maybe the POV or even SourceTV. There is also defuse bug, Shadows, clipping, the AI. I hope alteast one of those are in the "focused on moving the core Counter-Strike gameplay forward"

I'm ready! I just hope it doesn't break anything else. Please please test, test and then test again before you release it!!

Maybe you shouldn't attend CS:S lan tournaments and lose then. EGL?

I don't think this is going to be that bad, probably just a little dot for a moment where they were spotted, and not having it follow them around. Wont really be any change for competitive play, since if you have the time to look at a guy for a moment, one of you are already dead and you have plenty of time to call the position to your teammates on ventrilo.

I'm just glad they're doing something.

My only concern w/ the radar "upgrade" is as follows, and mostly only applies to scrim and match scenarios. Lets say as a CT you throw a defensive smoke slightly in front of you on a ramp. You then creep into that smoke making yourself hidden, and being able to see fairly clearly the opposing players. Put on that silencer and spray down dem headshots. What I fear is that with this new radar addition players MIGHT be able to scan smokes relatively quickly, see a radar dot appear, and be able to fire with a considerable amount of accuracy at players. To me, this would make telling hackers from legit players near impossible. Another major problem I see is with deception...many times people are like I see 2-3 at this site....now there will be exact numbers. In addition, I see prefire wars becoming rampant (which could have positive or negative impact for hackers pending how long radar dots stay active) However, because I cannot fully say how valve plans to implement this new radar system I will not criticize their decision just yet :)
