    Natural Selection Coming to Steam

Since there isn't much of anything happening right now in the CS world (we'll post the news as it's made available!), might as well give you some more news from the land of Steam. Apparently, Natural Selection, a modification using the HL1 engine, has made the move to Source. In doing so, the team has acquired the rights to use the Source engine and have made the jump from a simple modification to a fully realized and stand-alone game to be distributed via Steam.
In other news, we are preparing for imminent, earnest work on Natural Selection: Source! I wasn't sure which direction it should go, but after seeing some of the upcoming technology and features in Source, everything has become clear. There won't be any announcements until we are financially stable, but now I'm sure that's going to happen, it's just a matter of when!
Kudos to the Natural Selection team. Now readers, keep this in mind: It's not wrong for game developers to want to earn some money for their hard work.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

A laugh would be a congrats to the mod team for being determined to do this.

A cry would be about the amount of mods being shifted to a payed game.

This game is worth the money... more than most mod-to-commercial games that I've seen.

To make something clear: The team planned on making a game that is a commercial product long before any other HL/HL2 mod team turn solo company thought about it, back in the HL1 days even.

...As I have said before and will continue to, VALVe had nothing to do with it. FFS, its the Mod Author that decided to!!

Oh noes, instead of spending 20 dollars on troll dolls and yugi-oh cards, I'll have to buy NS:S

Chill the fuck out kiddies, its not the end of the world.

IMO this means they showed them some stuff thats coming after hl2 episode 2, perhaps they are upgrading source to support DX10 level effects/shaders/whatever, and that can't look bad compared to other upcoming games.

Natural selection sounds like a history channel documentary on darwin.

i think its brilliant that they are going to make a full on product, you have to realize that it's their hard work that makes it what it will become, if ns:source turns out really well any money they earn is more than a good thing.

just like i was proud to give my money to the makers of red orchestra.

and Agent 00Shoe, VALVe don't own the rights to ns, if the ns crew didn't have steam as an option they'd either have to fund a company themself to burn millions of copies of it on disc, or use paypal and some shitty servers to distribute.

                        VALVe are money hungry?

they arn't even making half of what blizzard are getting from WoW, the people that made guildwars dont charge monthly but they have to support millions of players aswell.

its not a perfect world but money is money.

Guys, Natural Selection is amazing... and im willing to pay 20quid for Natural selection:Source, ive been hoping and waiting for it to come out for absolutely ages and they definately deserve to earn some money for it.

To be honest, Natural Selection: Source coming to steam is probably going to be the best thing to happen for me and many other fans. could do with an increase in the community.

Natural Selection for HL1 is extremely fun when you actually learn how to play it :) and again i think csnation could do with supporting them a little more.

side note - i bet everyone whos playing NS right now will pay for NS:Source and it'll be good that more people who dont play it at the moment will

Should be interesting to see what kind of improvements they make on their game with the source engine.
