That's great for them, but I won't buy it.

I'd buy it. To me NS ranks just as high on the Half-Life scale as Day of Defeat and CS. It's one of the most original, high quality mods to date. The reason I bashed the Ship going tretail is because it wasn't all that great when it was free. NS is a game I would definetely pay for for a next-gen overhaul. I mean come on guys, CS and DoD were mods, and (most of) you paid for Source upgrades of those, how is this different?

Well, NS:Source is only 20 bucks. Paying them 20 bucks is like saying thanks for working on the original mod for many years.

To make something clear: The team planned on making a game that is a commercial product long before any other HL/HL2 mod team turn solo company thought about it, back in the HL1 days even.
But didn't the team plan on NS: Source being a free mod, while NS2 would be the retail game on its own standalone engine? Did Flayra oddly change his mind and focus on NS: Source being the "sequel" and the retail game instead?

Edit: Looked at the NS website and found more details. Yep, he changed his mind and focussed on NS: Source being the retail game with cheaper distribution in mind instead of retail shelves. Never mind.

reply to K-16, EXACTLY the same as CS2 isnt it?

lalala CS2 is the sequel, oooooooo the Source engine, nevermind its own engine lets just make CS:Source...

and to me, the only thing which holds back NS at the moment keeping it from a scary, atmospheric game (kinda is at the moment) is the graphics really. can imagine when it looks alot more real, shadows, shading and more :) its gonna be amazing.
