In an attempt to thwart the evil hackers in the Source world, CPL today announced that it will be working together with CAL to create an anti-cheat system by this years end that will be used in all CAL matches and at future CPL tournaments.
The Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) announced today that it has commenced development of a software anti-cheat solution for its online league, the Cyberathlete Amateur League (CAL). The CAL Anti-Cheat System will provide a multi-game client to further ensure fair competition in CAL tournaments and CPL online qualifiers. This announcement comes at a good time for all of us honest players out there. A major CAL-i player being banned for using cheats yesterday as well as the number of CAL-O players being caught cheating is increasing. It is getting pretty frustrating.
Members of the CPL competition committees will eventually be invited to interact with software engineers, and help establish a system that is simple, reliable and keep the needs of gamers in focus. When released later this year, the Anti-Cheat System will be free of charge to all CAL members and participants of CPL's online qualifiers.
