"Most of you (88%) are running with a traditional CRT as your display device."

Well I'm running a LCD (with drivers installed) and it says in the hardware profile I'm running a CRT, so if mine was detected wrong, others probably were as well.
Most likely yes.. The 88% CRT's doesn't make sense when over 35% is running 1280x1024 resolution..

It seems that 59.58% of Steam users are content with staring at the equivalent of a strobelight for several hours a day.

      (60Hz monitor setting...)

Well, most games like cs default back to 60hz even if you have like 85hz as your desktop refresh rate. You can override it though using something like ATItool.

          ReForce.

Also, I can't believe that I used to have my CS at 60Hz and the same for my desktop.

I put fps_max 60 into console these days and it starts flickering like crazy...

60fps on my LCD does not seem to flicker.

                LCDs are another story.

I was surprised by how many people are still using (relatively) old graphics cards and slow CPUs. (Including myself). I have to skip militia or nuke when they load, cause I know the map will be unplayable. "Surely Valve has tailored the game towards the majority of their users, and that means people with better computers than me, ohwell". Oops? According to their hardware survey, I'd now expect a great many more Source players to be skipping those maps, too. Is this so?

That's funny, my dad notices the flickering on 60hz but I don't.

Get used to a higher refresh rate.

It is nice to know the vast majority of players are unwilling to succumb to the graphics chip companys' outrageous prices. To a person who may just quickly glance at the chart, it may seem as if an ample amount of people own high-end cards (Geforce 6800, 7800, and X800), but in reality about 84% own low-end cards, with a few midrange, value cards tucked in here and there.

Still, it is unfortunate that there still exists enough demand for them to keep bumping the price up $100 with each new series.

I've used 85hz for a very long time before and switched to 60hz, still didn't notice a difference but I'm back at 85hz again.
