    No More Half-Life 2: Aftermath

Did I scare you any? While it is true there won't be any "Half-Life 2: Aftermath" coming out any time soon, it does not mean the expansion has been cancelled. Instead, it's merely received a change in name to "Half-Life 2: Episode One."

Valve's Doug Lombardi spoke briefly with GameSpot about the name change.
When asked whether the name change is indicative of a change in direction for the Half-Life 2 franchise, Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi replied, "episodic." When asked the follow-up question of whether the new name meant that beginning of a regular flow of content, Lombardi replied, "yes."

This change in focus may not be surprising to fans of Valve who are familiar with the company's online delivery service, Steam. The company recently announced that it was partnering with developer Ritual Entertainment to produce SiN Episodes, a series of episodic games on a regular basis that would be distributed online via the Steam service.
I can't say that I'm surprised, but I did like the "Aftermath" name a bit more than "Episode One." Oh well, it is the gameplay that matters in the end anyway.

Absolutely retarded. Valve, you've let me down again. Although I won't say for the last time, because I know I'm probably going to spend the next 3 hours playing CS:S. Dammit, when's Vanguard coming out...

There's nothing wrong with episodic. Basically... its the same as buying expansions over and over again... no need to cry.

Fuck that, if they do switch it to "episodic content" then they've lost a very valuable customer.

Thanks alot Valve. Just when I thought you couldn't screw the game up any more.. and just because you like the idea Kerosine, doesn't mean everyone else will. You jack ass.

You don't want to play more than HL2 offered in every single year? If they manage to create 3 or 4 5-6 hour long episodes a year, that would be awesome.

I agree with the people that think this is stupid. You'd rather play a yearly 5-6 hours? Well, I would rather play a very deep 20 hour single player game that kicks ass instead of playing something shorter than fucking Half-Life: Blueshift. Not to mention the original title kicked major ass; it just sounded cool. Half-Life: Episode One just gives me bad memories of the first Star Wars movie. Great job Valve, fucking up another great idea.

I've never been a big supporter of single-player episodic content on Steam because I don't want to feel as if i'm playing a virtual sitcom. And why did they name it "Episode One"? Wouldn't the original HL2 be "episode one" so therefore this is "episode two"?
