Any change is welcome for militia. Map was always a one sided pos. I always made sure to join T side, grab an awp, and camp the roof. I have to admit it was fun picking off all the CT lemmings.

I simply don't understand all this "it's crap because it's one sided" analysis. Same goes for assault, and virtually any cs_ map. Balance is a beautiful thing, but unbalanced maps offer a different kind of challenge and raise the stakes for players who really want to "storm the front" :P
Sure they'll always be the players who can't resist being a camping T, but you just make it more fun for the rest of us to flank you and stick a knife in your spleen.Comment

Wow, nitpick much? From snow on roof tiles to gradient maps? I don't know about you, but I bought DoD to play, not expect maps with such precise details.
Ice that looks like plastic?
The gradient for the bump maps are set wrong. Too much difference in the gradient. Makes the bumps too big.
And ice doesn't look like that. Only in areas (the right) where there isn't shadows looks nice.Comment

Actually, bump maps are made up of gradient maps.

And I have been working in the 3d rendering (mostly cars) scene since... well, 2000. So, I do know quite a lot about these things

I guess it's just getting harder to appreciate the Source engine's moderate to "ok" graphics as of all these "next generation" games drastically outshine the engine's graphics in every way.
I remember when this happened to Half-Life and all of its offshoots. Hopefully, a lot more will judge these games on their gameplay rather than eye-candy.Comment

...a situation one often finds on pub servers, because you end up with a bunch of people on your team who don't know the map well enough to run immediately to the terrorist team. :)
it's only imbalanced if the CTs are all a bunch of talentless twats.
That said, just like with cs_assault, I also prefer CT on cs_militia, and I've found you can do just fine. Often it requires one decent awper to pick off the leftmost Terrorist awper, and if he gets his shot off then you're good to go.
The nice thing as a CT is that as the terrorists peek over the roof, typically only their heads are visible, leaving you with no choice but to go for the quick headshot... even storming with an M4, it's often not difficult to pick off the T's simply because all of your shots are to their face. Anyway, we'll see how this all turns out. I am impressed with the snow effects there, I must say, especially with the look of the half-melted snow/ice under the bridge.Comment

Would you care to explain? Other than the extra exit from the sewers and a little more cover for CT's overground, I thought it was fairly faithful.
militia was best in 1.5. they ruined it in condition zero. if the CS:S version is anything like CS:CZ's, it's going to suck horribly.Comment
