Never one to take the holidays off like some people (IE: Us lazy folk at CS-Nation), the busy staff at Counter-Strike Evolution have pieced together what they expect to see in 2006 for CS: Source.
Here is just a small tidbit:

My final prediction for those who haven't fled from this article to QFG2 yet, I should say I unfortunatly expect CS:S to lose popularity in 2006. The sad fact is there is a lot of competition out there for CS:S right now, including Battlefield 2, Quake 4, and of course Quest for Glory. Also, CS 1.6 shows no sign of giving up the #1 spot on top of the Steam network list of most-played games. At the moment I write this, there are three times the number of people playing 1.6 as there are playing Source. And lets be real, folks: the die-hard 1.6'ers just aren't coming to CS:S. The good news: Valve is devoted to keeping CS:S updated and fresh with content, so even though there are more 1.6 players, we can still thumb our noses at them. While I may not agree with CS: Source losing popularity in 2006, the other points brought up in this and the other pieces of speculation seem to be spot on. Certainly nothing more than what we've already caught wind of from murmurings in the past, and certainly nothing exceptionally drastic will be done either. Afterall, the really big changes will only see the light of day in Counter-Strike 2 (not to say that there's been any word on CS2).
