Sweet, thanks Zips for putting this up. Hopefully a few more folks will see it.

The requirements are not mandatory, so relax you idiots. Just make an island based hostage map and submit it, and make it pretty with cool shit around it.

        Good luck.

            Design Brief

The island base must have the following inclusions:

          • A helipad, to escort FPSB delegates and kidnapped politicians

          • A nuclear silo, possibly hidden beneath a swimming pool, to threaten the West

          • An aquarium, where kidnapped politicians may be fed to sharks

          • An underwater entrance to the base

          • A control room, with lots of computers and flashing LEDs

          • A kitchen and a dining room with a nice view of the ocean
          • Looking this list over... they are humorous suggestions, but really... isn't that exactly what you want for a secret island base? Lavish, island resort look on the topside (helipad/pool/kitchen), technology and destruction beneath (control room, nuculear silo), secrecy (underwater entrance), and a good helping of excentricities (aquarium).

The key to success here is figuring out which elements from that list are relevant to gameplay, and which elements should be visuals that the player will never interact with. For instance, an underwater entrance is something that can be hinted at through closed plexiglass doors, or used as part of an alternative route for CTs.

While the layout sounds huge, the actual routes the players can take can easily contain visuals of all of these items (past fences, through windows, or whatever you prefer) without expanding into all these areas and bogging the map down.

Design it right, and you've got an updated cs_bikini with a feeling that you could shape up to be anything from James Bond to The Incredibles. Whether you're talking about "requirements" or "suggestions" I can't see where you'd go wrong with any of these elements. Just leave out the "I'm a trucker, hard driver..." song, heh.

Well I'm glad the thought of politicians being devoured by sharks is humorous to you.
