I'm glad they're re-creating old maps for CS:S, but that's all they are doing.

Let's see some decent original maps.

Militia! The best map in CS! That is if you consider the funnest map as the best map... militia is certainly unbalanced but maybe the remake will balance it out.

Yes, but then you'll get "vets" complaining about it being unbalanced *cough*Compound*cough*.

Heck, be glad that VALVe is devoting so much of their time to their fans, regardless of all of the "hate" speech.

I love how Valve always makes a huge deal out of things like updating maps for HDR like it's a large amount of work. If Valve sat down tomorrow and did some minor tweaks and recompiles of the already released maps, they could have them done before lunch and be able to finish militia and nuke that afternoon. What they're doing isn't a huge amount of work. I'd really like to know how much ass-sitting they do there.

And don't say they spend a lot of time playtesting things. If they actually tested their stuff before they released it, maybe the hostages could walk across train tracks and you wouldn't be able to see through the wall of the hostage shack on compound--which, by the way, would be much better suited as a de_ map.
I think that is a bit arrongant from to say that.

Look at projects they have been working on recently (at the same time) and it's easy to easy why they can't just sit down for 5min' and do minor fixes.

                1. Halflife2 for Xbox which have gone gold today and prolly took some massive efforts.

                2. DoD:S which was only released a month ago and now the new maps or w/e they are planning for it

                3. HDR - To create and to implement into the source engine

                4. Aftermath

                5. STEAM upgrades

                6. CS:S maps&models

                7. HL1DM:S

                8. Bug fixes: Steam and Source engine (and as we all felt, there is alot to fix :P)

                9. Lost Coast - yeah, i know it's only one map, but they also implemented that commentary thing

                10. TF2 .............................. ok, was just taking the piss here :P

Also, if you'll look in valve site, on how many workers they have, you'll see it's not very much.

Many times people tend to think on Valve that they are big as EA, and have hundreds of workers, but actually they are quite small compared to the amount of projects they are working on at the same time. so yes, making a (quality) map it is a large amount of work.

                  Cool, de_nuke, cs_militia, and more playermodels.. :)

I agree we should have gotten these things (especially the playermodels) a lot earlier, not 1 year after release.. But great news anyway..

No, but we "veteran" CS players were assured a similar CS with graphical updates. So far I see a new game that tries to emulate counter-strike, and If I wanted that I could've played Urban Terror.

Arguement is extremely flawed if it's meant to speak for all "veteran" CS players. I played the older versions of CS a great deal before moving to Source. I haven't looked back since.

Let's see some decent original maps.
Valve can't they dont know how to... I mean take a look at port and compound Valve makes there maps too complex in the way of teamwork, But what they dont realise is when ever is there teamwork on public servers?, hardly ever. Btw anyone notice both them maps are awper maps?, The other map can't remember whats its called isn't too bad needs abit of tweaking here and there. But isn't as much fun as the original CS maps. Maybe they should bring the old CS mappers into the source development? if they aren't already. I mean one map i would love to see in CS:S is CS_Iraq newer players won't have ever seen it or heard of it, But hardcore old skool fans will know what im talking about. But i couldn't see that happening seen as whats going on with american troops at the moment!.

Anyways finally i think Valve is hearing to our cry's for the maps and player models we have been asking for, For the past year! But if you think about it least it's one less thing for valve to work on, So they then have more time to sort bug fixes and let's not forget the hitboxes!!!, If they sort them then im sure you would see a hell of alot more people convert over to Source Because then you could officially call it a PORT! of CS 1.6, Which then would be a great step forward for the future of Counter-Strike:Source and a less bitching future also!.

If Valve carry on this way you might be able to think that has Valve started to listen to us finally?

All round good news looking forward to seeing it.

Keep up the now good work Valve. (I will take that back if you don't sort the hitboxes tho)

as long as I get to play on the map, I'll see how good it is from there. Better to judge something that we've played before, than to speculate on how good its going to be
