we've had community-made versions of de_vertigo, de_nuke, cs_militia, cs_backalley, and cs_assault for quite a while now. Some of them pretty good. Valve certainly seems to be making much more detailed versions than any of the community-made maps so far, but the ones that are out there are still fun to play and don't look bad by any means. I'd love to play de_survivor again, among others.
I'm lucky if I can find a server running them

we run them. After a bit of downtime and an IP change we lost all our regulars, so I'm slowly putting those maps back in the rotation as we get more and more regulars again. 69.90.129.161

Can't see how this was anyones favorite map. Every server I played on, this map would come up and server would be half empty in no time.

However, I am always happy to get another official map. Keep em coming Valve!

assault is the best map...always was :) always go CT for a challenge, I just hope they don't try to balance it too much for use in wars...it's not a war map...same as aztec...always was crap for wars because of the CT bias and awpers (that makes it a crap map all-round).

servers empty because ppl cry if they can't get on the T's.

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but I like the fact that assault has always been a T-centric map. We'll see if this really changes it, but odds are, just due to the nature, like siege in days gone past the assaulting force will have the harder time.

Regardless, props to VALVe for continuing to get us our favorite maps from before. :)
