Not only do these new orange link-ads make the page laggy for me in FireFox, but they also select really random words. ("the lost" in the text above linked me to a page about the T.V. show "Lost). You might as well just go back to the old days when there were huge gamespy or whatever ads that took up the whole page before redirecting to content, they were actually less annoying than these new ones.
That's when CS-Nationalism comes in handy.

Did you know that Nazi is short for the german for Nationalist?

      I believe it's National Socialist.

Valve is not attending E3 this year--no word on TF2?

Nazi is actually short for "Nationalsozialistische" which means, National Socialist

I, for one, will be looking forward to this expansion.

edit: haha, I was beaten to it, but I had the german for it lol

People say there is no story line to hl2, YES THERE IS. Only problem for some is you need to look for it and pay attention.
lmao, must have been playing a different game

It's kinda weak how Valve's making these "steam only" releases to force you into buying stuff over it.. (eg. this expansion pack, half life 1 source)

Wasn't it Big-Brotherly enough that you have to decode your retail cds with it?

Anti-piracy measures are fun! Plus I'm sure Valve doesn't want to deal with VUG if they don't have to.

By the way, anyone looking to play HL1 source.. dont waste your time. They didnt even update the textures.

                  It's source water + ragdolls in a 1998 textured environment. :\

Thats why they dont have a retail cd version in stores... they're ashamed to put screenshots on the box.

I have to admit I get amused when people complain about VALVe making add-on packs instead of fixing bugs.

As if level designers fix hit-detection code... :P

Speaking of HL:Source, I was really disappointed to discover the textures hadn't even been updated. I mean, I'm not expecting completely redone levels or anything, but seriously... it just seems like an extra line to add to your list of games that really doesn't mean anything.

Something along the lines of what Blue Shift did (though a less-than-memorable playing experience in and of itself, I'm referring to the higher-definition texture pack that came with it) would have made the whole experience more appealing at least. As it is, though... HL:Source doesn't really draw my attention any more than just regular vanilla HL does.

Updating the weapon models a bit would have been nice as well. I know they said they were trying to remain true to the original experience, but if you're going to be completely true to it, why even bother creating the port in the first place? Slap some updated textures in there, do some displacement mapping and maybe some lighting fixes, and we could actually have an old-school experience that still felt fresh and exciting.

Oh well... can't have everything you want, eh?

It's not who's doing what, it's what's getting announced, however your patronizing is more than welcome.

Loving the "Don Hertzfeldt - Rejected Cartoons" avatar there, peagle. You a fan of his stuff, or just stumbled across that?

You said you'd prefer more CS:S content, which is something level designers theoretically could work on. Unlike, for instance, this comment:

With that in mind, I'm not quite sure why you personally took offense, but I'm happy to be patronizing whenever possible regardless. Seriously, though, I'm pretty pleased by the "Steam Updates" they've had lately, at least they're telling us something about what they're working on, eh? That's better PR than they've often had in the past, for sure.

Fair enough, as this threads avatar of prioritising needed cs-s updates I thought that was aimed at me

Agree, I welcomed the (any) communication, all I need is a whisper of the cs-s updates we're starving for (even if it's just written on a napkin), v.s. the foghorn of hl2 expansions.
