Gah ! Didn't Valve say ages ago that VAC was designed for the source engine? So whatever CS is running is effectively a beta. VAC was designed with HL2 and CSS in mind, utilizing the benefits of the newer and more powerful game engine. With this in mind, I'd be doubtful if VAC2 was implemented on CS 1.6.

No it hasn't been running. First of all it has to be available and then the server operators have to enable it. Valve cannot just go ahead and put VAC on a server. Its up to the person who runs and owns/rents the server.

We run our own server, and there's been some strange lag that appeared straight after one of the updates about 2-3 weeks ago. Who says that a company like Valve can't put any sort of code into their software that has already been scanning everyones PC's - i'm not saying that it's been uploaded to selected servers, just that it's been running in everybodys PC's working out how people are hacking and coming up with a way to detect these hacks once VAC2 becomes fully active.

Well, basically, the EULA says it cant. actually, it doesnt say it CAN. so they cant install any program other than counterstrike and half life 2 onto steam unless we agree to it and in that case it would have been added into the EULA of counter strike source and hl2 DM.
