• Winamp or HLamp (a plugin for winamp) DO NOT get you banned.
  
  
• Using buy scripts, or any other cfg file script will NOT get you banned.
  
  
• Custom skins, sounds, etc. WILL NOT get you banned. However some custom skin packs also have cheats installed. Be VERY careful about what you are installing before you install it.
  
  
• Microsoft Windows Service Patch 2 won't get you banned.
  
  
• VAC does NOT scan your hard drive
  
  
• VAC does not exist to make Valve money, but rather because players said they wanted Valve to do something about cheaters.
  
  
• People on servers or server admins can't get you banned on all VAC enabled servers.
  
  
• Modified versions of maps (clear walls, etc.) do NOT get you banned. If you can connect to a server with a map, it's fine.
  
  
• The "AKS WARRIOR" friendslist phenomenon was not responsible for any "false bans" either, it was merely a DB problem.

and why are people happy that valve are releasing what will be just another rubbish anti cheating program when their history of preventing cheats is terrible. there are hacks out for css already so vac2 will be just like vac1 and useless



bearing in mind css is still bug ridden rubbish compared to cs i dont see how i bought a product which was a complete port of cs 1.6 to the source engine

Because it will still eliminate those idiots who opt to cheat and then get perma-banned for it. They'll then either have to take the time to buy a new game or just get the hell out of CS completely. VAC2-proof cheats will show up, but the number of cheaters using them will be significantly less each time VAC2 is updated.

You didn't buy CS: Source. You bought Half-Life 2, and got CS: Source for free. Also consider that the old CS took about 4-5 years to get to where it is now, you shouldn't be complaining that the new CS: Source isn't the model of perfection just yet. Of course it never will be since people complain about everything no matter what.

just to add a bit here.... everyone seems to forget old cs is still bug ridden as well... some of those bugs are considered "features" now.. and others are just accepted and ignored

Given valves previous resume for dealing with hacks I have ZERO confidence in v2. but I hope that they will suprise me.

I also wish that they would have just implimented v2, and told us later.

If people are hacking then they are violating the EULA and should get their accounts killed.. why in the hell would they warn people...

I don't know if you're one of those guys who only plays in matches, but I'm a "pubber" and I encounter at least one hacker every couple of hours. I'm not talking about a hacker in the sense that I get killed by a guy I didn't see so I assume he's hacking, I'm talking about someone going from one end of the map to another in seconds while spinning really fast and getting headshots.



The ammount of hackers in this game have made it unacceptable for people that are good at Counter-Strike. I have been playing CS for about 5 years, and I can maintain a 6:1 kill rate on most servers (once again, public servers with many newbies) and I get accused of hacking on a daily basis. I rarely get banned though because I'm good at articulating the situation, but it's still an annoying problem.

personally i think VAC2 has been running for a while now. Valve arent stupid enough to do it like this. Going to be a lot of suprised people i think.
