You have some application like X-Fire or some other spyware that has hijacked your Network connection. Be sure to uninstall these programs from the add/remove in the control panel (if you can).

Yeah, this has been a pretty obnoxious bug over the past... well, many months, don't remember exactly how many, but it's been plenty. Glad to see it finally addressed. :)



Now if I could only see my friends on Friends who are online... annoying to have someone calling you asking you to sign on to Friends when you already are, and vice-versa.

My friends has not worked a single day since I installed HL2 (I opened up a new steam acount). All my friends appear offline all the time, assuming I can even log on. Once in a while, someone will write me, and only then will this person appear online, but he will stay that way even if i know that he went offline.

yes, apparently you both are nub. i don't know what kind of drug valve was on, but X-fire is the most unbloated software of it's kind that i've ever seen. it uses few resources and has no ads. it CAN'T hijack your system--whoever said that shit was on crank or some shit. you can run any spyware program available on xfire and it returns nothing. now quit talking and put your mouth back on it.

I still have the spectator bug. I am stuck in "ghost" mode. I can't spec other players or get the auto director to work. the spectator menu is all buggered too and the mouse pointer disappears when I die in game.

friends is so unreliable it's been pretty useless.

the spec_menu bug still seems to occur for me too. its when you get killed while crouching i think. if theres anyone who still doesnt know after all this time, spec_menu 0 it. oh, and every hl2 or css update has completely deleted all of my favs except this last one. dare i hope?

friends used to be perfect back when it was "Tracker" then it all went to hell when steam went public...

I never noticed it either. I think the bigger problem that needs to be fixed with the server browser is the fact that it doesn't remember your history of joined servers, and if you add a favorite server while in game it wont stay there.

I wouldn't mind in 1.6 NOT having a favorites list of Source servers, hohum. Can't they make em separate?

Yeah. That and my favorite server list has never worked right. No matter what I do, or how often I change them, they still vanish. This didn't fix it, either.
