Amped eSports has another fine article, this time focusing on an aspect that should be implemented in order to help progress eSports as as whole:
About 2 weeks ago I received a routine Private Message on mIRC from Andrew 'Aikido' Dobbs, the manager of United 5's 1v1 Division. What started out as a normal conversation about da_bears possibly playing for mousesports over in Korea at WEG quickly turned into a more serious coversation about the need for a universal league or team association.Unlike most articles, this particular piece features the opinions of a wide variety of people from the eSports field. Everyone from the manager of Gamerco, Will "duck" McCain, to Ryan "sypher" Schumacher have voiced their opinions. Read all about it.
This conversation got me to thinking, everything Andrew said was exactly correct. What eSports needs is some type of universal team association/union or a way for all the leagues to come together. Until this happens, eSports will never become an actual professional sport, at this time it is just a FFA (Free For All). He also went on to bring up a good point, in other professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB) it is the teams that makes the league. This is how the teams have the power to make money, trade players, and more. Right now the players have no power, the teams have no power, so basically its a crapshoot the industry consolidates under one dominant league while the rest fade away.
