    Pushing eSports Forward

Amped eSports has another fine article, this time focusing on an aspect that should be implemented in order to help progress eSports as as whole:
About 2 weeks ago I received a routine Private Message on mIRC from Andrew 'Aikido' Dobbs, the manager of United 5's 1v1 Division. What started out as a normal conversation about da_bears possibly playing for mousesports over in Korea at WEG quickly turned into a more serious coversation about the need for a universal league or team association.

This conversation got me to thinking, everything Andrew said was exactly correct. What eSports needs is some type of universal team association/union or a way for all the leagues to come together. Until this happens, eSports will never become an actual professional sport, at this time it is just a FFA (Free For All). He also went on to bring up a good point, in other professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB) it is the teams that makes the league. This is how the teams have the power to make money, trade players, and more. Right now the players have no power, the teams have no power, so basically its a crapshoot the industry consolidates under one dominant league while the rest fade away.
Unlike most articles, this particular piece features the opinions of a wide variety of people from the eSports field. Everyone from the manager of Gamerco, Will "duck" McCain, to Ryan "sypher" Schumacher have voiced their opinions. Read all about it.

Very interesting idea. However the NFL, NBA, MLB all have finite amout of players. Online gamers will have infinte amout of players. I would hate to have the headache of managing that amout of players. The governing board would be huge to say the least. Someone gonna lose alot of sleep over this suggestion. Not me though, I'm a sandlot cyber-athlete. lol!

It's impossible for a universal (online) league because the pings would be so bad, unless sometime in the future where some sort of super internet was invented.

The real reason E-sports aren't a sport is that e-sports are more than one sport. There isn't one game that everyone plays. Secondly, for one of the highest games people compete for, there aren't enough players. If there were more players, that would mean more sponsors and even more interest in it with an increase of profit for that sport.

there's always something that "unless this happens, esports will never be recognized..." Get it through your thick skulls, sitting on your ass in a chair in front of a screen and keyboard will NEVER be a sport. A competition, sure, a sport? No.

i have been working on a merc site for months (still not in hte private testing phase)

                basiclly

you signup, and post that your clan history, 1 demo of you in action, your config, and other details

and when a team needs a merc or is looking for players to recruit they login, and browse the players until they find the one they want, message them, and wait for a reply

it isnt going to cost to be a merc, only going to cost to hire one

                e.g.

(im from uk, but posting in $ for general public, it would be the same amount e.g. £1, 1CA$ that kinda thing, depending on country)

                1$ for signup fo team

                5c for recruiting of merc

                5c for hiring of merc

1c goes to the merc, for each job they get, once its all finished ill post the site on here obviouslly since its the best counter-strike news site

Ava3ar, what the hell is a merc? Maybe it's one of those UK terms, but I've never heard it hear in the US except for the people that pronounce MIRC as "merc".

i sure do hope tat epsots actually becomes something like those other leagues, if that happens, and the teams get more power, then it will be better for all of the leagues. it will make it much easier to manage and if teams get power then it will indeed be like NHL, MBL, and so on. Maybe someday it will become a full fleshed league like the ones above.

it's not a sport... it's a competition, or a tournament of sorts, but NEVER a sport. might as well do Word 2000 olympics and call typing a sport/
