Prodigy has been released though, why bother with fancy screenshots when you know what it looks like?

For future refrence, E-Sports Entertainment Association, let someone with a half decent video card review the maps. Those are the worst looking screens I've ever seen.

I mean really, wtf is this? It's a good read and everything but for crying out loud if you're going to sport screenshots at least ask someone with a good computer to take them for you.
I thought the same when reading it. It was interesting, but the screenshots were horrible. My computer is about a year and a half old (and wasn't even the TOP of the line back then) and can get very good fps with much better graphics than that.

Because if it's supposed to be some big fancy schmancy E-Sports site don't you think they'd want quality reviews (which includes good quality screenshots, etc). I mean come on, think about it like this; Someone that JUST bought HL2, haven't even played Source yet, but plays 1.6/CZ. Maybe they browse this site from time to time and notice a Prodigy review, and they are like "Cool, I wonder what it looks like?" Do you think those screenshots are going to make them WANT to play Source? It wouldn't me.

On top of that it takes like, oh I don't know, ten seconds to find really nice quality screenshots of all CS:S maps on Steam Powered forums, he could have just credited the person in the review or hell he didn't even have to do that, since it's screenshots of a Valve created map. Next logic.

Does it really fucking matter what the screenshots look like, its not like the audience of the article wouldnt have played the map anyway!

Yes it does matter!! Just like ma_cherie already said, it can give the wrong impression to people interested in CS:S but who have not yet played it.. And I bet a lot of the "pro" CS 1.6 players that visit that site fall in that category..

And it just looks a bit dumb to me when he talks about how things look so beautiful in CS:S, and then uses crap screenies like that.. But that maybe also be a positive thing, because it means even on the lowest quality settings CS:S still looks a lot better then CS 1.6 (which is a fact)..

I found this read useless. It seems like he didnt get into anything important, like permiable surfaces or new strategies.

First of all, Gotfrag aren't there to sell HL2, that's Valve's job. It's got to be a very small percentage of people that would not only go to an eSports speciality site for reviews/quality screenshots of a game, but even know of it in the first place. The average Joe who has a bit of clue on the net would probably aim for a review site (ala Gamespot, or IGN) for the fancy high-res pics. Or maybe, if they have HL like you say, they could just try the damn game since its free, and not be a damn graphics snob.

Secondly, Gotfrag are trying to produce an exacting playtest of the map, they need specific shots of important gameplay areas. Generic Valve-produced pics of fences and train tracks aren't what they'll want.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have put high-quality pics up, because yes, they would have looked nicer. But I don't understand why it actually matters. Especially not to the people posting on here (see previous post).
