Whos cares about Microsoft and their crappy closed-sourced, windows only 3D renderer? DX sucks anyways.

only it's got a much higher range of effects and is a more powerful rendering device than current OGL tech.

              video card wars yay!

Fact is, anyone who has the best ati or nvidia card isn't here arguing, they are out playing ANY game they want with full details at a high framerate and they know there's no sense in arguing over 2fps when both cards own HL2 in the face.

Valve COULD have made the game run better on Nvidia hardware from last generation. It IS powerful enough. Just look at how well Nvidia's "crappy" hardware, the FX line of cards, runs Doom 3 compared to the "superior" ATI hardware back then.
This almost makes me want to believe an Nvidia fanboy over a freakin' game developer. Maybe they should hire you, since you're such an expert on this.
All the crap about Nvidia cards being bad in DX9 is false. I had a 5900SE/XT and it got 5500 3Dmark 03's. And all those tests were done in DX9!
                And I got a 6007 with a Radeon 9800 Pro.

                  LOL n00b!

Wanna try the NVidia vs. ATI? I am so sure that NV will win... *rolls eye*

Your 3Dmark score sucks. Since you said I had a 5900SE/XT , care to tell us your current card?

And you know nothing about why NV runs better then ATI in D3. It's called DRIVERS, and if you see the latest benchmarks with the X800XL/X850XTPE, it almost whipped 6800/6800U in terms of FPS.

Do your homework on the companies before saying anything else.

19.- Did anyone find the easter eggs in the E3 2003 binks yet? Now that Half-Life 2 has been released, will you tell us where (or what) were those easter eggs?

                    Yes. No.
What were the Easter Eggs? anyone know?

My current card is a 9600xt. I had to sell my 5900se to buy a new monitor when my old one kicked the bucket.

And I'm quite surprised that my current card barely gets 4000 3dmark03's but it not only runs HL2 better, but it looks better too.

                        EDIT:

Also, I'd like to mention that I owned a 9800 pro. I wrote a review for it in the hardware reviews thread in the hardware forums. And It only got 5800 3dmark03's. I had the card before Half-Life 2 was released so I could only play CSS but it was amazing. If the heatsink didn't fall off of it I wouldn't have returned such a card made of such cheap parts that costs 250 dollars to buy a 5900se that was 100 dollars cheaper.

Let me put it in plain english for everyone

Radeon 9 series > Geforce FX series

                            Radeon X series = Geforce 6 series

Nvidia drivers (always had and always will be) > ATI drivers.

Hooa! now drop and give me 20 private!

He prefers Burger King. Their fries contain more calories than any other fast food chain, believe it or not.

At the time Nvidia did very poorly on dx9. This was several years ago after all. So comparing FPS on a new generation of cards is not a logical argument. They weren't out when the game was made so the problems with the older cards have been fixed.
