I've never played tides before, but it looks great, I am really happy to see a new official map. I have no interest in the bots at all. Serisouly, who wants to play against stupid bots when you can jump on a server and play with real people.

Tides is a fun fast furious map. Personally I would like to move away from the same ol same ol. Lets put nuke, train, inferno etc. away. We have enough of the classics. Lets do something new.

I pointed it out in another thread, and I'll do so again: There is an excellent Source port of train out now (unfortunately, I got it from a server and haven't been able to find another source for it to link to here). It's nearly identical to the original, and plays superbly. There are a couple of minor problems (the ground by T spawn is covered with really shitty attempts at puddles that look terrible, and it's foolishly named just de_train), but overall it's just as good as the original. If anybody knows what I'm talking about and can a link to it, that would be great. Anyway, as far as the news goes, any additions and new maps are an improvement in my opinion.Comment

You can download that port of de_train from Punkassfraggers here. They also have de_trainyard which I also like.

They both need work, but as you say, it's not like these maps aren't around in some form. de_nuke_b8 is good although not final and it shows, and another conversion de_go_nuke looks particularly tasty but is still in testing. There are about 4 infernos out there, of which 2 are also nice.Comment

What do you expect? I bought an incomplete game.
Dont get me wrong, Ive flamed and shouted at people all over the net (even here I believe) for whining at Valve for no HL2DM.
However I can understand theyve got alot todo, DODS;HL2DM maps, Expansion pack; Source engine to complete (look in the sdk, theres alot to complete) and the SDK, however as time goes on its up to Valve to step up to the plate.
Im sure they've got there money back from HL2 and can afford the extra staff, for gods sake hire more mappers/ Im starting to think all these whiners are right - theyve had months and months to fix up CSS, but all weve got is like 8 maps, 2 models and a sheet of bugs.
Valve need to prioritize, get CSS sorted ASAP.
(edit; They'll never please us all, hence the whiners, but at the end of the day there is a HUGE growing community of CS players who wont switch over unless Valve sort it out, ATM CSS isnt that appealing when you compare it to a dated ugly, yet finely tuned CS).
So we just have to wait 3-8 months to get what we already paid for.Comment
