I find it hard to believe they've abandoned 1.6 too. I'm sure they plan to update it.

even if they did update 1.6 (gameplay changes not VAC) people would still bitch about it

        Don't worry, won't happen.. A CS 1.6 update I mean..

I recall Cliffe saying in a interview their attention was 100% with CS:S now.. Like I said why would they keep development going for an old version when they have a new version out of the same game, simply wouldn't make sense.. People that still play CS 1.6 cannot complain, CS on the HL-engine got supported for 5 years, and you can still play it if you want to.. And alot of CS players always complain about changes etc, so they should be happy it never gets updates anymore I guess.. To be honest I would be happy if most of the 'new version' complainers stayed behind in CS 1.6, makes the CS:S community a little bit more enjoyable (although I have no illusions about no whiners etc in CS:S aswell)..

Be happy Valve is not EA, who shuts down the ability of onlineplay for the old version completely once they have a new version out, which happens every year with their sports games etc.. Valve did kind of the same thing with CS 1.5->1.6 with the WON shutdown, but at least you didn't have to buy a new game for that.. They didn't shutdown CS 1.6, you can still play.. Just don't expect any support or new content etc for it.. You simply cannot expect things like support or updates etc to last forever with any game or any piece of software for that matter, especially when it's already 6 years old and new versions are out..

Still want Valve's support and/or new content etc? Move to CS:S.. It's as simple as that..

We have a HLTV always recording and broadcasting in our private server, so that when we scrim or play matches, we can look back on the demos if we think someone was cheating. We can use cheats and watch the suspected player with wallhacks to see more clearly if he really was cheating. Then, we blacklist the team and don't play with them anymore if it's obvious that their player was hacking.
indeed its a shame theres no way to do that safely without risking ban. As far as Im aware, Vac, checks the machine for the hack, and not the players is using the hack, so having it on your machine is bad enough. I think.

He's talking about viewing the demos afterward with a hack installed (possibly even on a separate machine for such purposes). Obviously nobody is going to forget they had the hack installed for demo reviewing purposes and then try to connect to secure servers. There's no way VAC can detect a cheat and ban you unless you are connecting to secure servers. So this method is perfectly safe and foolproof.

On another note, if Valve was to make any changes to 1.6 or CZ in the future, I would love it if they would add functionality for the scalable crosshair like in CSS. Having a teensy widdle crosshair is the best thing ever.

I'm glad CSS is getting VAC, better than nothing. I hope their cheat detection/banning methods are as improved as the graphics are.

But I really wish they'd include an update for 1.6's VAC, with the same improvement to detection/banning methods.
