I am not giving up. I said earlier that I already e-mailed Steam and if it wasn't so late I'd be calling VALVe and Sierra, but it is so I don't. I imagine it'll be 1000 years before Steam e-mails me back so... My options are somewhat limited.

You know what's lame? I'm out 50 bucks and can't play my fucking game. Just so everyone will believe me, I offer this as proof:

My aim and yahoo are both tekproxy. If you think you know something I don't I'd love to hear it. I really think if nothing works I'll "give up" and extract the files I paid for with some tools I have and see if I can get it going that way.

Methinks that they should use VAC2 (when it's done..) to detect other-than fake steamkey warez stuff from valve on the users computer. That'd reduce the number of illegal players dramatically, 20,000 is a huge number, but this is just one method, I bet they have a lot more. Scanning the harddrive is the best way (if it's not illegal to do that) to find illegally obtained content.

Stop crying about how a company is "alienating" their fan base when those "fans" are the ones trying to steal from the company in the first place.

It doesn't matter if you put in an illegal key before, during, or after... You Still Screwed Up

I hope all you "oMg kIlL t3h PiRat3s v4lvE!!!!" fuckers get used to the taste of your foot, when valve starts charging monthly fees for online play you're gonna wish you had the 1337 pir4te hookups.

They alienated me. I normally buy Valve games and now I wont anymore.

                      Congratulations.

If only they put this much time and effort into stopping cheaters :)

But then, you probably get more money from this.

Even though I have the old HL1, I think I'm going to get rid of my steam account and do a fresh install with just HL2...after hearing all these horror stories.

I have a question about the CD key issue. I registered my CD key to my Steam account, but what if I want to remove it off my old account and transfer it to my new account? Is it possible?

                              1 cd key, 1 account.

                              Enjoy.

Spouting rubbish without checking destroys your credibility.

Check out the Steam support page for instructions to relocate your CD-KEY from one account to another.
